I found the Animated Series on DVD at Big Lots years ago. I had vague memories of watching it occasionally on Nickelodeon as a kid, but it was my first "grown up" watching. Like you said, some episodes are a bit silly, but it's got some great ones that are every bit as good as the live action...

I think the difference was that the Armorizers can work with pretty much any other toy (whether or not Joe/Jane Parent would know that and not assume that it only works with whomever is shown on the packaging is up for debate, but that's the idea anyway).
They've always been a bit hesitant to put gimmicks on the box that show too much interaction with a specific other figure. The thinking being that a parent might not want to buy this NEW figure if they don't already have the OLD figure at home.
