I should say that I *like* thus version of Nexus. I love generic robot modes and ad-hoc Cubertronian vehicles.

It's really just the combination aspect-- and the compromises that come with it.

But enough about last week's news. Powerglide's mask is my new favorite accessory.

They've always been a bit hesitant to put gimmicks on the box that show too much interaction with a specific other figure. The thinking being that a parent might not want to buy this NEW figure if they don't already have the OLD figure at home.
It did seem a bit odd that Air Raid etc were lacking the Superion simulation bit that showed them being limbs (well, limb decor). Just had the # of 5 plate and Superion art taking up one box panel. I didn't think of that "so I have to buy other ones?" aspect of it though, I thought it was just not wanting to take away from space for the toy pictures.

Same here. I did preorder Nexus because I do like him as his own thing. I don't have any intention of buying the new Superion, so the combining aspect of it won't mean anything to me.

But yes, Powerglide's mask is absolutely the bee's knees and is exactly the sort of goofy, deep cut reference that I love this design team for.

I really hate Nexus' base robot mode. I'd love to be able to display him in his proper combined mode, without having to disassemble my other combiners. Unless they say there's a limb set coming for him later, he's gonna be discount purchase only. Which sucks cause I've been collecting all the Primes so far.
I think one of the other TF sites mentioned other limbs being released in the future. If so, I hope they recolour/remold Silverbolt's and add the (TFCC?) coloured versions of the limb bots too.

I also hope it's not an exclusive though.

Swindle is Wave 3 btw. For those asking.

They probably only showed him off early cause they were showing off complete Bruticus at the time.

Interestingly, this listing makes it sound like maybe he's only compatible with Silverbolt:

Exactly what the hell is a jet tank? To me, he looks nothing like a tank and hardly like a jet if it wasn't for the cockpit, I would say that its more of a brick

Since we don't know exactly how Onslaught combines, it may BE Silverbolt who has to supply the pants. If I was guessing I'd say Bruticus's front and back both hinge up to clamshell around Onslaught, so it may not fit his torso connection. Today's stream apparently mentioned limbs for Nexus coming in 2027, though, so who knows?

Well, they've pretty much confirmed they'll do the limbs for Nexus on the video they just released. I'm guessing that means they'll put out a frame for him too somehow, at some point, which the video also seemed to imply will be based on Superion's, although that didn't seem as clear to me.
Liege keeps looking insanely cool.

Edit: Now that I think about it, we don't yet know who the second commander class for Age of the Primes is going to be, right? Although the way that they discussed the limbs in the video and what they can or can't show made it sound like we won't be getting more components until 2027. But we'll see.

Yeah, curious if there will be a Nexus-colored release of Silverbolt's "trailer?" I could see them doing a G2 recolor of Silverbolt, which could then donate his frame to Nexus.

The more images I see of Liege, the better he looks. Between him, Onyx and The Fallen, it’s hard to pick the best, but they are probably my top 3 favourites of the 13.

Also, even Liege’s spaceship mode makes me think of Fifth Element. On top of his ZF-1 gun.

And now I’m just imagining him talking like Gary Oldmans Zorg. Just to complete the image. :)

I'm very happy to hear Nexus will be getting his own set of limbs. But I'm curious what the limbs will be and how they'll handle the frame. Seems like they're really leaning into the Superion connection, so hopefully there will be a Silverbolt frame redeco/retool. But how will they release it? I can't imagine they'll sell just the frame as a standalone item. Will we be stuck having to rebuy Nexus as a Commander with the frame? Or rebuy him in a big box set as a complete combiner? I guess making a boxset of everything except Voyager Nexus is possible, but doesn't seem likely. Maybe have some/all the limbs be sold at higher price points and include part of the skeleton? Again, doesn't seem likely. I guess maybe just do a straight Silverbolt redeco in Nexus's colors, with Silverbolt himself just being a filler for anyone who doesn't have Nexus, and a waste of money and space for everyone who does? G2 Silverbolt gets kinda in the same palette range, but is far enough off that a G2 Silverbolt would probably either not really look good with Nexus or not satisfy G2 fans.

And what limb bots will he get? At least two of the Aerialbots seem like obvious enough choices. Will they go full Superion and just use all four of them? Using Vortex seems like the obvious choice, given that they've used FunPub colors. But if they're using the Superion frame, Brawl doesn't work. Will they release a new-mold tank to complete the FunPub homage? Retool the frame to have one of the legs based on Bruticus? Something else?

I dunno, but at the very least, I'm feeling a lot better about Nexus now than I was just a little while ago.

They might not know how this is going to work yet. I 100% believe this is a pivot. They're talking about the limbs coming out in 2027. I know 2026 feels a few years old already but we're only three days into February. December is too soon to finish this set? Wasn't AOTP supposed to be a two year toyline? Something changed here.

I'm glad they're doing it though. I don't care about the Thirteen so I wasn't dead set on getting this in the first place, but now I will go out of my way to get one on general principle. They're making things right.

Here's the Fanstream link. Confirmed that Nexus was an issue in development, leading to the current compromise where limbs will come later. Lots of fun details on Leige, including his larger "back horns" can connect to the old Decepticon Throne.

In terms of Nexus's frame? They said they can't include imagery of stuff from "next year" in packaging or marketing, hence the current situation. I wonder if the Technobots are on deck? Scattorshot isn't THAT far removed, design-wise, from Silverbolt, and the colors might play better with the Nexus color scheme.

It was very brief and easily missed but it was mentioned they are working on 2028 product now so I'm guessing anything for 2027 is probably set or very nearly so.

I still think Age of the Prime's was pencilled out to a three year initiative that was cut short a year (probably after year 1 was finalized), leading to some of the odd choices we're seeing this year: they're basically stuck trying to "finish the theme" with only half the amount of time they had planned. Nexus and Amalgamous both SCREAM for a leader or larger price point. A whole wave of red and white figures is odd marketing, collector centric line or not.

Makes me wonder if 2027 is going to see a major "brand refocus" or something after recent trends on the kids side and some weaker than expected sales on parts of the collector segment.

I dunno man, if you can't show that stuff yet, maybe hold Nexus off until you can? I can't imagine anybody would care too much about him being in the next subline when Vector Prime didn't come out in AOTP. They're doing the toy a huge disservice by not advertising its features on the box, even if it was just a silhouette or 1 of 5 badge and then following that up with the social media photos of the dire torso mode.

Two things (that haven't already been said) stood out to me in this video:

1. Mark confirms that he saw the Geoff Senior art of Liege Maximo from Alignment and misinterpreted the three ships flying around his hand as the Liegian Darts.

2. I've heard a lot of people mispronounce Jhiaxus's name before (it's a pun on "Gee, axe us"), but this is the first I've heard anyone (Mark, in this case) mispronounce it as "Unjaxus". 🤪

Armada Jetfire is this year's 2nd Commander.

First post of this thread has a full rundown of Age of the Primes stuff we know about .

I fully expect a reissue of the Nexus torso in 2027 if the limbs are getting released then.

Lines are planned two years in advance, so if the limbs are coming out in 2027, they were making plans for it back in 2025.
