Knowing all this, I am so glad that he was able to bounce back with voicing his second most iconic role: Eeyore (up until Disney took that away from him, too, a couple decades later, but I digress!).
They killed Eeyore too!

The Transformers also might have been an itty bitty in-and-out job that nobody remembered doing if it weren't for that meddling Wally Burr and his visionary belief that these toy commercial scripts deserved to be taken as seriously as any voice acting job could ever possibly be.
Now it resembles foreshadowing to Star Convoy with that tiny Rodimus inside his chest. The poster's been changed.

"You think you got it bad? I'm still alive, only now I'm voiced by Spock!"In several convention panels and interviews, he recalled reading the script for the first time, being taken aback by Optimus's death scene, and then getting to the last page and being like, "I... I don't come back...?" He remembered turning to Frank Welker reading the script next to him and saying something like, "Hey, Frank, have you gotten to the end yet? I'm getting whacked!"
The Hot Rod IS from the last poster!Obviously it was put together in a hurry, so I'll cut it some slack. It's better than the last poster at least, and I guess that's all it needs to be.
The gesture and pivot are appreciated.
They probably had this poster and many other pieces on hand just in general, not specifically for this/in case of this, and it's nice work overall -- but the composition is so strange. Not least for how pasted-in Hot Rod/Rodimus looks. There's a quasi-religious iconography vibe to it, between the "wound in his side" and other battle scars and the exposing of the "sacredheartMatrix", that I'm not sure how to feel about.
It IS funny how it avoids minimizing Hot Rod while, uh, minimizing him.
I like it! They could have drawn Optimus without the battle damage though. Something like this:The poster's been changed.

Just a Transformers the Movie 40th logo would have sufficed and been respectful. Let's face it, the movie was somewhat marred by death for eighties kids who were lured there to see their favorite characters slaughtered.
