Thing is, I can see the floating of the idea, whether it was fishing for a response or not. And I do sense the "not this again" response and I get it.

But at the same time, while I am also sick of the topic, and leery of how it coming up in peripherally related conversations never translates into actually meaningfully DEALING with it ... my level of comfort seeing it in the discourse has nothing to do with its validity as a concern. I'm not enthused to see it, but I can just let other people who still care enough to verbalize things do so and I can just tune it out without taking up the role of the discourse police.

And like, I get it. Distrust of AI is causing a lot of collateral damage to things that don't deserve it and it's a real problem for a number of reasons. (Not the least of which is the more that it happens, the more obsfucated real AI generated stuff gets).

But also, I don't think asking if a large corporation known for cutting corners might use the technology loved by large corporations who like to cut corners is exactly beyond the pale.

I'll wait to get mad about it until people actually see it.
How dare you!

And if someone here was actually doing that, then you would have had a point, but they're not. You basically came in here wagging your finger at people in th is thread, over something happening elsewhere on the internet, all because somebody had an extremly milktoast comment about AI.
Last I checked the post I was referring to was here. The other thing is just added context because shock of shocks, this place doesn't exist in a self-contained bubble.

You basically came in here wagging your finger at people...
I came in addressing ONE person. And you're taking it more personally than they are.

And for all your kvetching, your posts here amount to just wagging your finger at me over my supposed finger wagging. And frankly? I don't really see what you're getting at, other than to get on my case. Evidenced by...

Yeah that's my point. I guess I just didn't express it in an Undead Scottsman approved way 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm going to repeat what I said earlier since you just decided to ignore that.

If Hasbro uses generative AI to animate something or even use to mimic Cullen's voice for future content... then by all means, be rightfully mad about that.

But this is just getting mad about something before we even know if it's happened.

If people are super-pissed about it, they are welcome to join me in my living room this month, as I roll out (pun sort of intentional) my worn VHS copy of the movie. It'll be featured on an old, beat-up black and white TV (with rabbit ears), so no gripes about the color 😆! We'll have refreshments in the form of Bonkers candy, Hi-C Ecto Cooler, Crystal Pepsi, Doritos 3D, Keebler Pizzaria chips, and I'll even order pizza from Mr. Gatti's. It's gonna be great!

I wonder if that's because of Cullen's death...

Been seeing the displays up at a few Targets, but nothing actually stocked on any of them, aside from the battle damaged Primes that've been on the shelves for a while already.

Sorry, to me this...

... absolutely seems like it's fishing for something.
"AI" has become a boogieman to just trot out against something you either don't like or want to otherwise cast shade on. In some circles anyway. Just something to toss out.

And I mean...

Come the hug on. This is basic ass clipping you see in CGI projects all the time. Was a regular occurrence in both BW and Prime.

But everyone's so hyper eager to scream "AI!" that, well, here we are. And yes, it's ridiculous.

IF Hasbro uses generative AI for animation or, G-d forbid, to bring Cullen's voice back from the dead then yes. Pile on the much deserved scorn.

But all of this seems like a bunch of nonsense based on nothing but hysteria.
Why would the smoke stack clip though?

My local Target finally put up its TFTM endcap. Nothing epic there, but they did restock some figures, including SS Megatron. I was tempted to get that Prototype Unicron figure, but passed on it and got an Armada Sideways instead. I also got one of the TFTM blind bagged bag clips to go along with my G1 Megatron one on my work bag. I thought by feeling it that it would be a Grimlock, but it turned out to be a Galvatron, and I happy with that. I have him right next to my Megatron. :)

One of my local Targets got the Apology Tour end cap. Had a whole two SS '86 Scouges and two SS '86 battle damaged Megatrons.
