They would sell, look how many other bots have clogged shelves but eventually find their ways home. But I dont disagree, the 3 would sell better as a package deal. Sunstorm is the one who should be getting the individual release. But by adding Sunny to the group, now more people are going to buy the set vs buying just the 3 by themselves. Sunstorm is the only reason I am buying the set.

I’d be very interested to see the order breakdowns if these were released individually.

Sunstorm would of course be first. Then probably Acid Storm but I wonder who would pull ahead between Not-Thundercracker and Not-Sunstorm.

Well, this Made To Order stuff is making a GREAT impression so far.

It would sting more if this were the previous Voyager mold, but wow. "Good news, everyone. We found a way to use the HasLab model more frequently. Let's pair that with our penchant for sticking one desirable thing in a multipack (which may or may not include other desirable things... I know, let's make it a 4-pack, just to be safe)."

Like, you'd think they'd build up to that, test the format for Transformers with a single release (not even Sunstorm, just a standalone release). Then see if it holds up for bigger, pricier packages. But I guess they can be more confident for Transformers.

I think this is them testing the format. If they need to hit a minimum number before the factory will take the order, maybe they have a deal where each Seeker in this set counts towards the same total even though they're different colors. So Hasbro has no idea how many sets they're going to sell, but getting to multiply the number by 4 makes them confident that they can hit the necessary total.

But who knows.

I would like to have the Sunstorm, but I don't want to support the multipack business model. Release them separately and let me choose, or I choose no altogether.
Rumour has it that a single version of Sunstorm will be released in the future. I also wouldn't be surprised if SS86 Starscream was KO'd and then recoloured into oblivion.

1. Read posts and/or take people off Ignore. I'd like nothing better than for that rumor to be proven true. And who knows, maybe they WILL make up for lost time with Sunstorm, but they'll likely want to keep the exclusivity going so as not to undermine this release. But this rumor was supposedly clarified/corrected one page ago.

2. I think there already IS a KO of the SS86 mold; pictures of a test shot of a Thundercracker has supposedly been making the rounds. But as we've seen, this mold is already getting redecoed into oblivion, and through official sources. (On a personal note, this doesn't help me at all, as this is not my Seeker mold of choice, but that's not relevant here.)

Although I won't probably get this set, there might be some positives to the way it's being sold:

- It's open to everyone in the US, so it can help to defeat scalpers in the US, possibly?
- There doesn't seem to be a minimum amount of orders needed for this to be honoured and thus completed by Hasbro.
- The characters are not mainstream ones (or three of them have been sold before and there's a rumour Sunstorm might be coming out individually in some form later on) so for some of us, this isn't a big deal if we can't get them perhaps?

I'm still not happy with the price and the "milking" of customers to seemingly get one character by selling it in a boxed set with characters that some customers don't want (which is why I've avoided boxed sets like this like cosmic rust).

One of the Hasbro team explicitly said Sunstorm is not getting an individual release; at least nothing is planned through 2028. They have said these MTO sets should be opened up to order globally, but didn't give a timeframe:

I think we are going to get a lot of characters we already have “definitive” versions of again. Wheeljack. Hound. Datson Bros. I’d love a single release Mirage instead of him always being in a set.
Part of me is glad to have a chance to shift to the opaque-plastic versions of Ironhide and Bluestreak, and Prowl, having already pursued the recent Wheeljack and Sunstreaker ones.

But part of me is also wondering if this isn't one of those "last hurrah for the molds before we make entirely new ones" that (with hindsight) was exactly what happened with all the Platinum Edition redecos and Movie The Best and outright reissues (such as of Earthrise Op right around SS86 Op) and all that.

...I am annoyed at how part of me is also like "if and when that happens, I'll consider it" at that. But like with the Seekers, I'll have to draw the line somewhere. The economy is more or less drawing it for me anyway, and a lot of these are going to have to be good enough. Because if and when Hasbro finally gets around to Stuff I Want that they haven't made yet (Thunderclash, Turbomasters), I don't want what little entertainment money I've got left to be tied up in paying for Smokescreen Final Final Revised Final Version Updated Based On Comments Final.

if they do new molds they're gonna be completely smooth and detailless to be sunbow accurate except for when they aren't because they can't even be consistent with this jive

Thanks. That's a shame. I suppose I may need to wait for either an official Sunstorm further on in the future (using another mold) or hope a KO version comes out then.

If this official set is released in Japan, the set might probably cost around ¥30,000, which is far too much for me.
