see, I could pay that much if I really wanted to but why would I want to? Even if I was into these nobodies, isn’t the point of reusing the mold four times supposed to make production cost per unit less?

Well tbf $150 for four Voyagers is a deal by current Voyager prices. Whether or not current Voyager prices are desirable is another matter all together...

I think the thing here is psychological. If each of these guys were released as standard releases and you wanted to get all of them, you'd likely pay over $150 collecting all of them.

That situation, though, would see you spend that money spread out over a couple of months, maybe even a full year. This is asking for $150 upfront. It's a deal overall, but it's a bigger cost to eat all at once.

There's a definite element of FOMO involved, but personally, I'm mildly interested in Sunstorm and don't care at all about the Rainmakers. I could probably swing it if I budgeted carefully, but the interest for the value just isn't there.

You can pay $42 for each release to get all 4 seekers. Or, you can hope they hit clearance. Or, you can hope they hit Ross or Ollies. But buying at $150, knowing I’ll be able to sell the 3 rainmakers and get some of my money back to justify getting my hands on Sunstorm is worth it.

The really sneaky thing would have been if Hasbro sold two two packs, one with Acid Storm and the blue one, and Sunstorm and the yellow one.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can easily remember Acid Storm is the green one but can't be assed to remember which are the yellow/blue ones.

Really wish we could get that 2008 deco again...

Yellow is nova storm, which I remember that by thinking of the color of the sun. I only remember the blue one is ion storm by process of elimination.

I didn’t consider how the pricing structure differs. Here, voyagers cost about $32 while the set is selling for about $180

Speaking of Seeker sets, China is getting a multipack of Starscream, Skywarp and Thuundercracker. They're identical presumably to the retail releases and even come in the original packaging but with a larger box that fits all of them.

Got to see the retooled Shockwave in person recently, and it looks really nice. Bit surprised that the back shows both the submarine mode (as the main altmode) and the upside down submarine mode, right next to a picture of him holding the altmode-Shockwave accessory.

It's VERY tempting, especially with that little bonus accessory, but I still have the Siege one (and have a trauma bond fondness for my pandemic era purchases, of which diseased greebly Shockwave was one of the earliest)... and this is probably not the best use of the money right now.

Look, I don’t care if people buy knockoffs or pirate software or whatever their personal consumer habits are but to gleefully endorse knockoffs strikes me as a bit… shameless? I don’t know what the term is in English. Dude doesn’t even sell as far as I can tell so it’s all for the love of the game.
