I'm aware. But I recall that the realities of working with Hasbro and the factories were always a pain for them to navigate, even during the first few years of holding the license. That said, they still managed to meet in the middle enough that they could still turn out winners. Animated, G2...
Jackpot makes good points here acknowledging that the club was always up against something, in addition to the uneven spread of good and bad choices they made on their own. Sometimes the problem was that the bad ideas got greenlit, but sometimes the good ideas weren't feasible, or the support...
Same. No need to faff around with engineering it and making room in the chest for that. Just tool up a swappable neck joint that isn't that Buzzworthy nonsense. Could even just straight up reuse the G2 head since that's what the box art was based on.
The official release should be the toy head, if not having an alternate profile of the box art head. If it can only have one, make it the toy head; DNA can make the alternate head when they sell an upgrade kit that's 97% irrelevant stuff that makes it look like someone else's fan art and stores...
"This is not quite what it's being made out to be" is basically my current read on this. I don't think people are bringing up the wider-than-implied-here time frame to excuse Hasbro for anything, just to clarify that it isn't a desperate one-month-and-change scramble. The time frame is relevant...
With time and context, it's been very nice to look back at it and realize that they did go back to revisit G1... BUT they did it the way they were doing it in G2! The legacy name reuse BUT with peripherally-appropriate assigning of names, the mining of molds that hadn't yet been tapped in this...
I'll edit with a proper serious answer, but the big one for me is knowing I should slow down if not stop entirely due to space and cost concerns... But don't.
It would be nice to get a release with stuff you'd otherwise have to get via upgrade kit.
Also, didn't the recent Covert Clone Sideswipe have the stock headsculpt? The one I recall having that great sneer was the MP.
I'm now reminded that I need to find a junker Armada Jetfire head to swap onto the Astrotrain I have. (I assume the heads can even do that.)
"This is the ideal Spacewarp package. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like."
As long as they use Spacewarp's head along with the colors, they can call it Astrotrain on all sides of the box and papework. I promise to do my best to pretend to be irritated.
I really wish they'd redeco the hell out of that Legacy mold. Starting with a proper SG Starscream.
Still, wow, I'll never see a Cybertron mold and not be filled with a pleasant nostalgic buzz. Those were really satisfying.
