If I were in charge, the complete toy based version would be a Commander. The box art version would be trailer-free and sold for a whole lot less.
I'd prefer an alternate head so there's no risk of compromising the MW toy/Thunderclash sculpt. Just do two heads.I said it before and I'll say it again: the ideal solution would be for the figure to have a retractable mouthplate that could be deployed and hidden away like TF: Cybertron Leader Class Optimus.
As for any budget concerns, if we're already talking making the whole package a Commander Class, then there would be room for such a tiny mechanic.
Same. No need to faff around with engineering it and making room in the chest for that. Just tool up a swappable neck joint that isn't that Buzzworthy nonsense. Could even just straight up reuse the G2 head since that's what the box art was based on.I'd prefer an alternate head so there's no risk of compromising the MW toy/Thunderclash sculpt. Just do two heads.
It's also the principle of the matter. Almost every other collector line comes with alternate heads as a standard, but Transformers just doesn't do that. They've filtered with it here and there but I'd like to see more of it.
Thunderclash can have his own mouthplate-less head. Let Optimus have the retooled head with the gimmick.I'd prefer an alternate head so there's no risk of compromising the MW toy/Thunderclash sculpt. Just do two heads.

Reportedly, people at BotCon 1997 wouldn't stop pestering Bob Forward about making a Machine Wars cartoon, when Forward had no idea what they were talking about.I did get some of the MW toys later on in the 2000s, but I never thought that anyone really cared for the line.
It wasn't that unreasonable at the time. It's 1997. You've got G1, G2, BW, and MW as far as lines went. G1, G2, and BW all had a show attached to them. These days we're used to collector aimed lines with little to no media but back then? Why wouldn't MW have a show? Literally every other line up to that point had.Reportedly, people at BotCon 1997 wouldn't stop pestering Bob Forward about making a Machine Wars cartoon, when Forward had no idea what they were talking about.
To paraphrase Young Frankenstein... well you were wrong then, weren't you? It's odd to me that so many here have this nostalgia for Machine Wars...I never thought that anyone really cared for the line.
That's what made them so fascinating to me. I grew up just outside of Toronto. MW was just this weird vehicle centric Transformers line I only ever saw once in Florida. And given that it was G2 and not BW that was my entry point into Transformers? That was big for ten year old me. It was just this one off memory of these cool post-BW vehicle Transformers I was half sure I imagined until I found out no, they really were real years later.Don't think we ever got Machine Wars in Canada. So I have no real nostalgia for it.
I'm pretty sure the brand team has said that the earliest we'll see the "sandbox" approach in Generations fully manifest is 2028. Which makes sense. The pipeline from conception to retail is two years for a toy. So if the decision to reorient SS into the media accuracy line for all media and turn regular Generations into the sandbox came this year then the earliest we'll see stuff that was designed with that in mind would be 2028. So year two of Megatron Rising, assuming it has a two year cycle like AotP had.So far not a lot from the new Sandbox approach I'm for sure picking up aside from Thunderwing. Not complaining makes for a lighter year on the wallet.
There was no precedent for having more than one show at a time, though. It wasn't that unreasonable at the time. It's 1997. You've got G1, G2, BW, and MW as far as lines went. There was no precedent for two lines at once either. The whole thing was uncharted territory. There was no precedent for having more than one show at a time, though.
Yeah, Forward wasn't going to be the one who helmed any hypothetical MW show anyway. I get that. But more importantly to why Forward was confused by being asked about it repeatedly, the writer of the Beast Wars show wouldn't be the one who'd decide whether a Machine Wars show got made.
It was just LG, constantly following him around asking for it.It was more the fact that they wouldn't stop badgering him about it that I was pointing out, to emphasize to The Predaking's point about how there were people who had such care about Machine Wars.
I was 10.It was just LG, constantly following him around asking for it.![]()
Which makes it even funnier.I was 10.
