  1. Star Trek: The Original Series and The Next Generation

IMO, it takes more than a single character to spin straw into gold. Into Darkness was the entry that killed interest in the Abramsverse enough to significantly impact the box office take of Beyond (a much better film).
  2. Star Trek: The Original Series and The Next Generation

Yeah, just one of those assorted non-corporeal entities they encountered on TOS every now and then. The mentioned novel tie-in wasnt actually that bad. The "God" entity had previously been an extradimensional refugee, close in power to the Q. He and a few others were admitted into this reality...
  3. Star Trek: The Original Series and The Next Generation

The only problem with TWOK (and Khan himself) is that the franchise is so goddamn obsessed with that story. It's now gotten to the point where I'm just tired of hearing about it, tired of watching the film and sick of it being the only one that really gets revisited or put back in theatres...
  4. Star Trek: The Original Series and The Next Generation

My point was, TNG is equally watchable whether Q is featured in an episode or not. Many of TNG's best episodes don't involve him at all. In fact I'd argue that Barcley's holodeck simulations using the likenesses of the crew are at least as amusing as anything Q ever did.
  5. Star Trek: The Original Series and The Next Generation

TNG only had Q in a spattering of episodes, and still managed to amuse. Most of the time with more subtle, character moments.
  6. Guardians of the Glaxay Vol. 3-Adam Warlock has been cast!

If you have any kind of sensitivity to animal testing, just watch out for this damned movie. For the record, I really loved it. But certain scenes left me wanting to scream along with Rocket in the middle of a crowded theatre.
  7. Star Trek: Picard

Even thinking of an entity like Q as having past or future selves might be thinking a little too linearly. Even the Bajoran wormhole aliens, (arguably) not as evolved as the Continuum, exist in the past, present and future simultaneously.
  8. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

It's definitely not ideal. Judging by the trailer, they seem to be trying to push him as charming by making the normally unflappable La'an getting all flustered and hot for him... but I still just can't buy it. It doesn't help that Anson Mount's Pike is just so goddamn charming; what little...
  9. The Flash - CW TV series

This entire season seems like nothing but filler... and bad filler. Think I'm finally done with this show.
  10. Star Trek: Picard

That rebuilt bridge set needs to be preserved this time.... ideally made into a tour like the TOS set tour in Ticonderoga, NY.
  11. Star Trek: Picard

I'll need to watch it a second time to collect my thoughts, but overalll this encapsulates my feelings regarding the finale. Also, just a random thought I had, but I wonder how often Scotty stopped by the Fleet Museum after Geordi took over to have a drink on the bridge of the 1701-A. I was...
  12. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

I really don't mind Enterprise's explanation of the whole Klingon ridges thing, so this doesn't bother me. At this point in the timeline both types of Klingons exist. And let's be fair, we didn't exactly see a whole lot of different Klingons during the 3 season run of TOS. They appeared 7 times...
  13. Star Trek: The Original Series and The Next Generation

The Director's Cut, only recently (finally) remastered and re-released in HD & 4K, makes The Motion Picture eminently more watchable. I'd recommend picking up the new blu-ray.
  14. Star Trek: Picard

I mean, a Starbase that size would probably typically carry tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of torpedoes. Even functioning as a musuem (and presumably nestled somewhere deep and safe within Federation space) it would theoretically need to defend itself (or those priceless ships) now and...
  15. Star Trek: Picard

Ships on active display at museums are typically stripped of all sensitive hardware and fully disarmed. It's possible that all those other ships can't just be loaded up with photons and set loose. The actual torpedo launchers and phaser array hardware have probably been completely removed...
  16. Star Trek: Picard

The Tzenkethi were shown to be experimenting with artificial wormhole tech to try and counter Starfleet's use of Quantum Slipstream, and of all the Pact members they probably have the least regard (being that even their own internal hierarchy is based on genetic "superiority" determining one's...
  17. Star Trek: Picard

Since I'd heard pretty much nothing but positive things about this season of Picard, and the fact even Mike & Rich over at Red Letter Media (with whom my opinions on Trek more or less align) are liking it, I decided to finally catch upon it prior to the final episode, I have to say, it's truly...
  18. The Mandalorian - streaming on Disney+

They sure got a laugh out of me when they stunned Christopher Lloyd in the middle of his political diatribe (of prequel-era political nonsense, to boot). Pretty much my take on the prequels. I was also incredibly creeped out by the (obviously wealthy) human couple at the Opera House on...
  19. Star Trek: The Original Series and The Next Generation

Riker was essentially their "backup Kirk" in case having a Captain who was an intellectual & diplomat didn't work out. Since it did work out, Riker was relegated to being the guy who passive aggressively sits on chairs backwards, pervs out on women, and being the dummy to whom things are...
  20. Shazam! Fury of the Gods

All of Gunn's antics over the past few months couldn't have helped the box office, either. I mean, I'm sure there were people who figured why even bother seeing it when DC is basically axing all these versions of the characters, anyway? It's a shame, because I really enjoyed both Shazam films...
