Did you enjoy last month's debut of the all-new Transformers: Wild King series on YouTube? Well, tough! Takara Tomy have seen fit to beget a third episode of this series on their official YouTube channel, which you can view in all its glory right here! Remember, you can turn on YouTube's auto-translated subtitles to try to have some more intimate idea of what the heck is going on! Yeah. Okay, so if you want something better than that, and which actually occurs in sync with when the characters are speaking, then we've got just the thing for you! Allspark forum member Sabrblade and some others helped False Convoy out with this one, giving us a fansub to be proud of for this little short! It's lacking the hilariously blatant advertisement for the toys at the end of the original, but if you're just in it for the story... well, I'm sorry. But also, you'll be good to go here. The first two episodes got the treatment, too, albeit before Sabrblade and others signed on to help. You can check those out here. Feel free to talk about this below, or over in the 'New "Wildocking" Animal Limb Combiners from TakaraTomy' thread on our forums! Unless you have a Paramount+ account -- or cable for Nickelodeon (but who has that anymore, am I right?) -- then maybe you didn't know that there is a Transformers animated series running right now, as we speak. If this sounds like you (and welcome! I must assume you're new here if you're visiting a site like this, but had absolutely no idea there's been a new Transformers cartoon running for the last couple of years), then worry not! Like all good Transformers cartoons, Hasbro is putting this one out to pasture. And by "pasture," I mean "YouTube." The first three episodes of the first season are available now over on the Transformers Official YouTube channel, just waiting for you to dive in and enjoy! Or you can just watch them here! We're not Prowl. Presumably, more are to come. On the other hand, the description pushes catching full episodes on Paramount+ at least twice, so maybe not? Time will tell. Thanks to @Sabrblade for the tip! Allspark Forums Discord Server X Facebook Page Bluesky Instagram Edit: Tweaked from the original post, where I was under the mistaken impression that the show was over... finished. Apparently not?
While we're still waiting for Hasbro to get its new Transformers: Cyberworld line and accompanying series rolling, Takara Tomy is already on the ball with the first two episodes of their equivalent stopgap, Transformers: Wild King, now available on YouTube. The total combined run time for the two episodes clocks in at just under 11 minutes -- less, if you skip the toy promotion at the end. Check it out: YouTube has auto-generated subtitles, but they ain't great. If you want to activate them, turn on the CC option, and then in the Settings (gear icon), choose to translate to English). For those curious (but can't watch just yet), they get right into it, with Optimus Prime (not Convoy, so maybe this isn't meant to be a part of Japan's Generation 1?) following Megatron to a new planet, where he was investigating a new form of energy. If this is connected to anything else, that will probably come later. Animation is kind of mixed. Visually, it stands above some earlier CG attempts at bringing the Robots in Disguise to life, but at the same time, is still kind of low-budget in other ways. For instance, if you liked how Wheeljack talked in the original G1 cartoon, you might appreciate the way everyone's eyes blink as they talk, but there's no mouth movement -- not even on the guys who actually have mouths. Kinda wild (no pun intended, but gladly claimed), and if nothing else, it should make any attempted fan dubs go much easier, since there is no lip syncing to worry about. As mentioned, the end of the video is a promotion for the accompanying toys, showing you how to transform them and combine them, all while encouraging you to replicate scenes from the animation. Curiously, this only goes for Optimus and Lightlong, while Megatron and his crew... I guess we'll have to wait for next time? So, what do you think? Does Wild King make your heart sing? You tell us everything in a groovy comment below! Thanks to @Sabrblade for the tip! Allspark Forums Discord Server X Facebook Page Bluesky Instagram

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks has told Bloomberg that they will no longer be co-financing films based on Hasbro IP. While Hasbro will continue to license its IP to other film companies such as Lionsgate and Sony, Hasbro is stepping out of the film business with the disappointing box office returns of Transformers One and Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Cocks, who came to Hasbro from Microsoft in 2016, was put in charge of Hasbro's card game, Magic: the Gathering before becoming CEO two years ago after the death of the previous CEO Brian Goldner. Cocks is focusing more on upcoming video games to try to "reach fans where they play" by ear marking $100 - $150 million a year to producing video games based on Hasbro's IP. Games mentioned were the upcoming GI JOE game, Exodus made by Bioware, and an unannounced Dungeons and Dragons game. No word on any upcoming Transformers video games, but stay tuned to the news feed to find out as soon as we hear anything. Want to interact with more Transformers fans? Things have not been going well for Power Rangers fans as of late. When Hasbro purchased the brand for $522 million back in 2018, things looked good to start. Their first series, Power Rangers Beast Morphers, adapted a Super Sentai show fans thought would never be, and used it to tie up some loose ends from a beloved series from a decade prior. They followed up on this with Power Rangers Dino Fury and the much shorter Netflix-exclusive Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. And, besides a 30th anniversary special which tied in to Cosmic Fury, that was it. There was talk of a new movie and/or a reboot of the franchise, but those plans apparently stalled out. Meanwhile, Hasbro has apparently divested itself of its toy-making responsibilities to the brand by licensing it out to Playmates, so they can do it instead. Still, hope persisted, as it usually does. That is, until the auction was announced. It was revealed back in October that Hasbro would be getting rid of all the various Power Rangers props, suits, and other material used to create the show for the past 30 years via Heritage Auctions. Three decades of television history. Japan gets a Super Sentai museum exhibit for their history, and we get an online auction for ours. Suffice to say, it's not been a popular move among fans nor the people who brought us the show, who were even explicitly told they weren't allowed to keep the jackets that had been tailor made for them, in at least one series' case. Via Gizmodo: And it wasn't even a charity auction, either, which would at least be in the spirit of so many of the characters people grew up with and idolized. No, Hasbro instead seems desperate to claw back whatever they can of their initial investment to reline their pockets, history and all others be damned. Well, fair enough, we suppose. After all, they are a corporation, and corporations, as you might have heard, are here to make money. So, how much money did they make? Well, if you somehow missed it in the title, here's a more precise figure for you, anyway: $3,310,929. Gizmodo highlighted some of the items which garnered a higher price. The highest bid of $87,500 went to the Cosmic Blaster (left), the combined form of the weapons wielded by the Cosmic Fury Rangers in what may be the show's final season. A slightly more modest $47,500 was put down for the filming miniature Astro Megaship (center), headquarters to the Space Rangers in the popular Power Rangers in Space series and fully capable of converting into the Astro Megazord (right). Other items that were on the chopping -- er, auction block included the Green Ranger suit worn by the late Jason David Frank in his role as the ultra-popular Tommy Oliver, which went for $30.000, as well as the original Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger's costume ($22,500) and Mighty Morphin Yellow Ranger's costume ($23,750). Well done, Hasbro. 30 years of Rangers and the people behind them are proud of you for making back 0.63% of what you spent to kill the franchise, we're sure. If you're interested in what else was up for grabs and what it fetched, you can check it all out here, though you'll need an account to pull up the final amounts. Join the Allspark today. Not one of a kind, but one step in the right direction. Transformers as a film series has had a very long, tumultuous history. While many loved the action and scope of the Michael Bay films, it came to ahead with The Last Knight being the lowest grossing and reviewed movie in the franchise. As such, most Transformers fare has struggled to find a new creative direction in live-action. And after so long, we now have a new animated film in theaters now. An origin tale of Optimus Prime and Megatron, where before, they were Orion Pax and D-16, miners from the planet Cybertron. Together with their new allies Bee and Elita, they uncover a great secret about Cybertron's past, and how it leads them down to a familiar path for both characters. Watch this, he's gonna pull a birdie out of his hand For most Transformers fans, this is probably a dream come true. Newcomers can finally see how both Pax and D-16 become their iconic selves. And how Cybertron works as a whole before they come to Earth. A Pre-War Cybertron works as a nice basis for an origin story. But that's the main problem with the film: It's an origin story. Oh, we knew we should have made that left turn at Albuquerque Origin stories usually have a lot of buildup, but not much of a payoff. Many Superhero movies, for example, usually start with an origin story, and take their time to establish their cast, their arcs, and setting up the main conflict past just starting out. Transformers One does fall into these same trappings. There's many concepts that the film introduces (the Quintessons, Starscream, and the rise of the Decepticons etc.), are brashly introduced to only be saved as a later conflict for a sequel. Maybe I just seen it one too many times before. It also doesn't help that the humor in this film is a stock, with repeated improv from B-127. Keegan-Michael Key does his best (even if it just comes to rambling improv), and if you like this type of humor, more power to you. He does mellow in the 2nd half of the film, which helps to show the grave situation our protagonists find themselves in. Though, I can't say he is any more relevant after that point. Parallel Parking is harder than it looks The best parts definitely come from Orion Pax's and D-16's friendship, how it transforms into becoming true enemies. While Orion is mostly a static character that tries to prove his worth throughout the film (kind of reflected by Chris Hemsworth boisterous acting that has been seen numerous times before), D-16 is made the straight man in their antics, as the more law-abiding citizen that trusts the system. Only when he realizes how much the system betrays everything he's ever cared about and known, he becomes radicalized to destroy. Brian Tyree Henry provides a good shift to his character when that midpoint happens, and his change in attitude increases to vengeful extremes. Elita-1 doesn't have much going on, unfortunately, other than to trust Orion near the end, (I guess you can say it's being more than judt protocol and promotions, but it mostly just culminates to her and Orion.) And Steve Buscemi's Starscream is just there. His voice isn't bad (they actually do a small gag with how his voice sounds later in the movie), Screamer just doesn't have much to do other than be in command of the High Guard, and just a means for D-16 to get himself an army at the end. MFW I find out who else used the Walther P38 If anyone is familiar with Sentinel Prime, (for most casual audiences, his appearance in Dark of the Moon where he's played by Mr Ballad of Bilbo Baggins, Leonard Nimoy), they shouldn't be too surprised by his role. His actions set the the current state of Cybertron under his thumb, but when it comes to his fate near the end of the film, it makes a grand moral statement of whether it's right to kill those who oppress us. It does feel a little refreshing to see Optimus be concerned for life, as opposed to the bloodthirsty portrayals in past films, and they show D-16's turn to becoming Megatron, with lots of visual symbolism that children can get easily and be entertained. And the film presents you to not be a cog in the machine. You can be so much more than what society tells you to be, and shouldn't let them take away those options. By the end, though, it feels like we just rushed through to 2 different climaxes, and once more teasing more to come. In hindsight, it's not egregious like other franchise films, but it's annoying to see that happen time and time again. Looks like someone won the Burp contest With having seen Rise of the Beasties last year, and to a certain extent, Bumblebee, it seems Hasbro/Paramount wants to play it safe and conventional for their Transformers films, making them more like Marvel films (as evidenced by the writers, script by Gabriel Ferrari and Andrew Barrer, both of who's notable work is Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Josh Cooley, the director for Toy Story 4). Their creative direction is a little derivative in nature, but it's not without a distinct change in tone once the 2nd half kicks in, and really drives home its story and themes. For all Transformers fans (myself included), it's a good gateway for newcomers to enjoy this film that takes from previous stories and lore for a cohesive new story. I'm not a big fan of the government -alArts If you want to share your thoughts on the film, join our Discord, Transformers forum, our Twitter, or our Facebook group for others to read and hear!
