Entirely possible those weren't his real feelings, just what he felt he had to say in order to ensure job security.
The thing is... this wouldn't stop being the case after he left Hasbro. Mattel, PlayMates, etc... aren't keen on IP infringement either, and I can't see the upside to going "you know what? I love IP stealing 3P and always have!" after leaving because that seems like a surefire way to not get job offers ever again.
Or he flip-flopped, who knows?
Rik Alvarez, the guy behind PlayWithThisToo is a close friend of Archer's. It could have been as simple as him wanting to help a friend out. Now that would still run afoul of the issues in the above point... but the scuttlebut I've heard is that Archer agreed to do some control art for Alavarez under the table, but Alvarez, desperate to make the second Kickstarter campaign work, started blabbing about having Aaron Archer "on board" to drum up hype.
Neither I or the people who floated this possibility have any proof of that aside from the fact that PWTT's site, back when it still existed, made a huge push to showcase Archer and a bunch of other former Hasbro peeps being on board before removing all of those bios only a few days later. So take that for what it's worth.
