That one's probably more due to the fact that, despite his new look, he's still the same character as G1 Optimus Prime, so he has an official English name that Hasbro already uses, so they just slapped the "Star" prefix at the beginning of the established English name just like Takara slapped the "Star" prefix onto the established Japanese name.Meanwhile, Star Optimus Prime...
Or is that specifically to connect "Optimus Prime" to the Thirteen in the limited lore of the toyline, and not create any wrinkles about "who's Convoy?" ("He's just zis guy, you know?")
Oh, there have been many fan suggestions over the years. Mammoth Prime, Maximus Prime, Gigantimus Prime, Humungus Prime, any variations with "Primal" instead of "Prime", etc. What would they even call big convoy if they primed his name?
Amalgamous and Quintus both scratch that “weirdness spot” that I have that Beast Machines also scratches. I’m astonished at what they appear to have accomplished with Amalgamous at the price point.
Had it been up to me, and if I had to stick to the naming conventions of the Archer era, I probably would have gone with something like "Stellarforce Optimus Prime", with "Stellarforce" also serving as a new Hasbro English name for the Battlestars team since a certain other sci-fi franchise would already have claim to the word "Battlestar" as a trademark.Just occuring to me now that "Star Upgrade Optimus Prime" might not have been too bad, and there's precedent for it too.
I have four versions of the original Big Convoy mold. This new one has a very nice robot mode and I’m sure it’ll be much easier to transform. But I’m not sold on the beast mode. The flat brown and the sculpt are not exciting me.
I wonder if they ever tossed the idea around of "Star Convoy Optimus Prime", with "Star Convoy" being like a function designation a la "Special Ops" Jazz. If nothing else, it'd be kind of funny.Had it been up to me, and if I had to stick to the naming conventions of the Archer era, I probably would have gone with something like "Stellarforce Optimus Prime", with "Stellarforce" also serving as a new Hasbro English name for the Battlestars team since a certain other sci-fi franchise would already have claim to the word "Battlestar" as a trademark.
Oh, that would have been hilarious as a double pun, what with him being a "space truck".I wonder if they ever tossed the idea around of "Star Convoy Optimus Prime", with "Star Convoy" being like a function designation a la "Special Ops" Jazz. If nothing else, it'd be kind of funny.
Only if his internal radio has "Space Truckin'" stuck on repeat.Oh, that would have been hilarious as a double pun, what with him being a "space truck".
Don’t you go playing with my emotions like that…According to the most recent pictures it's 99% to Botanica already, I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was one of the Amazon exclusives later or the like.
What hat?Razorclaw looks solid, and he even gets his little hat!
