Man, she twisted a giant screw right THROUGH his heart...no wonder he looks so annoyed...
Nah, she just knew he'd be off to face the Decepticons and needed his game face.

Eh, you'll have a lot better time in fandom generally if you don't expect that. Disagreements and differing opinions are just life, and we were already walking into the future together despite them.

I could see them giving a boxed set torso figure a new deco and maybe a new headsculpt for either the normal robot mode, the Combiner mode, or both.

Yeah I'm good now. I don't intend to start a collection of frame combiners but I would like to experience this. Nexus Prime is enough of an oddball that I'd be happy for this to be my only one.

I definitely think better of it but I dunno, if he was designed to fit into any of the available combiner frames, I can understand why the standalone altmode was so bad. I don't agree with the compromise to make it happen but I understand why. If he's going to get a dedicated frame anyway, there's no reason for the altmode to look like it fits into Soundwave anymore. Probably need actual images of the combined mode to decide.

Of course, I'm already missing some of the Primes anyway so I was never going completionist.

This will probably sound stupid but when I saw Nexus part of the reason I was annoyed later was at first I just saw the pictures and somehow missed the caption. I briefly thought they were of modern Raindance and Slamdance and I clicked through several looking to see how the Grandslam component was done. Then I saw what it really was. I only vaguely remember those two from when I was a kid but I thought it looked like a great update till reality bit me.

Of course the solution is to buy multiples

Which raises a question: Will that mask fit on any of the others who had them? Or is it designed only to fit Powerglide?

I don't think you can read anything into AotP ending at the end of 2026 and Nexus' limbs and frame coming in 2027. These sublines for Generations aren't hard and fast rules.

Buzzsaw showed up in CW, and he was a preview for TR.
PotP was basically bonus content for both CW and TR.
Siege had Apeface and ER had Snapdragon, two characters who fit the TR play pattern to a t.
Kingdom started a Generations Beast Wars collection that continued through Legacy and AotP.
We're still getting TR Deluxes.
Animated Generations figures started in Legacy and have continued into AotP. Same with the UT. Technically UT started showing up in Siege.

I'm just saying that 2027 will likely be called something else, year one of a new subline. That was never a hinderance to using some slots to fill out previous lines though. They've been doing it for years.

I do think @CoffeeHorse is onto something with the gap between Nexus and his team, but that doesn't necessarily mean they've scrambled over the last two days to pivot. From what they said it sounds like Nexus was a hard nut to crack for them. He was going to be a Leader, and then he got shuffled into Voyager. Then they considered making him a Duocon but couldn't make that work. It just sounds like he was kind of a problem to get right, and by the time they settled on "Voyager and we'll get his limbs out separately" it was already 2027 in the pipeline.

That's probably the best part of the recent "continuity-lite" lines they've been doing for the last several years. Sure, no accompanying fiction, which yes, would be nice. But at least they can release whatever wherever without much worry about such things. It's more of a show of refreshing the line for retailers, since I hear they're big into that.

Same mold, but more translucent plastic.

To match the rest of the new stuff.

One other reply I was typing out but couldn't figure out how to clearly state was along these lines. Functionally there's no real difference between even Legacy and AOTP, as both are multiversal-cast lineups; the latter just lacks a price point and line-wide gimmick bots (Junkions, Armorizers, etc), and there's a more specific checklist runnung through it. If that gets truncated, they could just shunt Liege, Nexus, and whoever to the next line, since it's not like all the Primes were going to be in AOTP anyway, with Vector having shown up in the previous installment. Push them back a year to the follow-up, Rest Of The Primes.

Yeah, I don't know why they are insisting on shoving all the Primes (plus three combiners) into two years instead of the normal three, but this is one of the sacrifices as a result. Didn't they say in the livestream that this was the last wave of AotP? Could we see the next line announced at Toyfair? Or maybe that's more of a SDCC thing?

It's kinda nutty that retailers still have this kind of sway, but I guess the more things change in that landscape, the more they stay the same.

Eh, it's not like they couldn't just dump whatever Primes are left into whatever the line after is called and Walmart will be none the wiser.

I ended up having to order to order both Nexus and Liege from Pulse as BBTS was already sold out of preorders in less than 24 hours after they were posted. I really didn't realize how popular both of these would be. Glad I was able to get my order in somewhere.
