Kemp wants film production moved back to Georgia and figured this was the way to do it.

Ironbite-cept I don't think film studios are gonna bite.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Especially when they don't clearly define what "made out of the united states" actually means. Might be time for international markets to take trump to trade court over it though: this is blatantly denying them market access.

Yea, seems very poorly thought out. How many US funded productions are shot in Vancouver or New Zealand? I have a feeling he just hates Japan and South Korea. Biggest foreign films in the US market, box office wise, seem to be from those two countries.

Oh, when you said he was going to destroy the film industry I thought you meant all the other countries are going to respond with retaliatory tariffs and tank Hollywood's overseas market. And I was frankly all for that because the hell with America's cultural imperialism and movies that cost so much to make that they need to succeed on a global scale to make a profit.

But if this is going to block Hollywood from outsourcing or even filming on location overseas... well I'm just going to laugh even harder as the industry collapses even harder.

The historical context of HItler and the German armed forces - hopefully others will find it illuminating too.
I've heard of the "Night of the Long Knives" before, but only ever described in an ominous and vague way that made it sound like it involved rounding up everyone in the government and military who opposed him or wasn't 100% on board with his rise to power and having them murdered, possibly in a single literal night. An "Order 66" moment, if you will.

Which makes me wonder, was there anyone who didn't take the oath? And what happened to them? Did they resign, or were they executed on the spot?

Well, it was just a speech after all. Not a good one(basically making changes to protect against abuse issues being reported, all but saying he doesn't care about war crimes, etc) but basically just another speech And for those who were worried about the temperament of our own generals:

I'm going to hold my tongue for the next 72 hours in case some generals get mass fired via tweet later.

Well, no room for interpretation here. Trump intends to turn Democratic cities into military garrisons.

At one point, Trump said he suggested to Hegseth that the Defense Department use "dangerous cities" in the U.S. as "training grounds" for the military.

“I told Pete, we should use some of these dangerous cities as training grounds for our military, National Guard, but military," Trump said. "Because we’re going into Chicago very soon, that’s a big city with an incompetent governor.”

Trump told the military officials of his plans to send troops into other cities, including Portland, Ore., San Francisco and New York, where he said that “America is under invasion from within.”

Trump said Portland “looks like a war zone” reminiscent of World War II.

The White House amplified Trump’s rhetoric in a press release Tuesday, saying the president was mobilizing federal resources to Portland to “stop Antifa-led hellfire in its tracks.”

“The Radical Left’s reign of terror in Portland ends now,” the White House said.

Trump wants the military to take on domestic ‘enemies’

“We’ve brought back the fundamental principle that defending the homeland is the military’s first and most important priority. That’s what it is,” Trump said. “Only in recent decades did politicians somehow come to believe that our job is to police the far reaches of Kenya and Somalia, while America is under invasion from within.

“We’re under invasion from within,” the president continued. “No different than a foreign enemy but more difficult in many ways because they don’t wear uniforms — at least when they’re wearing a uniform, you can take them out.

"Our history is filled with military heroes who took on all enemies, foreign and domestic,” Trump added. “That's what the oath says, foreign and domestic. Well, we also have domestic.”

I love how DUI hire Kegsbreath goes on and on about overweight soldiers and generals and how it sets a bad standard, and Trump waddles up to the podium to vomit up some low-energy inane word-salad about foes "foreign and domestic" and to complain about stairs, his expertise in not falling down them, and Obama.

Go take another drink, Pete. And buy Trump a Big Mac or two while you're at it so he can continue to be the icon of fitness a Commander in Chief should be.

And yes, Trump's statements about sending troops to other cities should absolutely raise alarm bells, but it also shouldn't be a shock to anyone who has been paying attention to anyone who understands that we are living in an authoritarian regime. This has been Trump's playbook, he simply waffles on when and where he's sending troops and jackboots depending on what day and what time it is.

Really makes me want to go back and time and take care of Newt Gingrich before his plan was put into action.... A lot of this garbage tracks back to the stuff he pulled back then.
The only hope left is the people rising up to stop this and like 20% of the population are actively cheering on this garbage thanks to only listening to things like Fox News and Newsmax another 30% are blissfully unaware of what's going on...

So long as we've got a time machine to deal with the openly-fascist arm of the Republican Party, might as well go back to the 1940s when they started branding everyone who had traveled to Spain to aid in the Civil War as "Communists."

Well, my time machine can only jump to points within my lifetime and I'm old, but not quite that old, so I had to choose a point. It's broken now, anyway. Apparently trying to give your younger self winning lottery numbers causes a paradox or something.

Please work on that time machine, because I'm gonna need it when Pocket and I get elected.

As part of my process reforms, the Senate will be run by my time-displaced Kindergarten teacher, and these idiots will learn how to conduct a vote in one minute instead of three days.
