What a twat. I mean, if that was ever going to happen during my lifetime, it would’ve broken out during the Thatcher government. I’d be more worried about where he lives now, seeing what he’s enabled…

Muskrat left out the important part. Should have read 'Civil war in Britain is inevitable because I'm spending part of my fortune to make it happen.' The UK should ban him from entering the country at this point. He's not a British subject and he sure is doing his best to interfere with the British government.

Unfortunately he can still do that without being there in person. They should figure out a way to ban him from doing that too, even if it means physically unplugging the entire country from our part of the internet.

True. I'd imagine blocking the import of Teslas and banning X would be a step in the right direction at the very least.

But we already missed the date.

That particular episode of TNG was banned from airing on BBC and RTÉ because of that line of dialogue! The BBC didn't even air it until 2007, when they were repeating TNG on BBC2 in the middle of the night. I mean, understandable I guess, given the Troubles were raging on at the time. I've said this before, but at secondary school (high school), we had bomb drills in case the IRA planted explosive devices in the school. It was basically like a fire drill, but you had to bring your bag rather than leaving it, and there was a different alert sound. That was in England, so I can't imagine what extra stress my counterparts in the North of Ireland had to go through at the time.

(Sorry for derailing the tread off-topic a bit.)

Our media is even covering the NYC mayoral election quite intently, and they almost always ignore any Stateside election which isn’t a presidential election. In fact the last time I remember them paying this much attention to any non federal US election was when an Austrian film actor ran for governor of California.

(Yes, I realise this isn’t the thread for that particular topic.)

New York City might as well be its own independent city-state, as far as the world stage and especially its own citizens are concerned. Like you know the stereotype that Americans think of the US as the only country in existence on a map beyond the borders of which Here Be Monsters? New Yorkers are like that for just their city. Like, if states started actually trying to secede over Trump, I'd expect New York City to try to secede on its own independently of the state.
