our cat dippy had kittens a week ago today but, sadly, not even a day after the kittens were born - one of our dogs got into my sister's room (where the kittens were being kept) and wanted to play with them and...we lost two of them. this is the only surviving kitten. photo taken yesterday

it turns out one of our other cats leo (she is dippy's sister) was pregnant too and she had her kittens this morning but she had them outside and under the house, except for one kitten she left in the front yard and my sister brought that kitten inside and tried to put it in the shelter with the other kittens (dippy's surviving kitten and luna's (dippy and leo's mom) kittens) but leo was like 'NO' and decided underneath the closet in my den was going to be the kitten hiding spot

we need to get them a box with blankets for warmth, of course.

but also wow look at them.

Oh jeez, I'm sorry. We had a hamster holocaust like that here once.

I rarely post outside of the TF Discussion forum, but I lost my cat, Layla, today. She was 19 and was the oldest "patient" at my vet. She had been sick for a while (renal failure) and we had been keeping her comfortable. But she let us know that she was ready, and we took her in to be put down today.

The Allspark has always been my internet home, and it is so comforting to be able to process this kind of grief here. May the sun always shine brightly upon your face, my sweet girl.

I'm so sorry. I can relate - it's one of the hardest decisions we ever have to make.

I don't know if you can call them pets yet, but for the past month or two, we have been feeding some feral cats every night on our porch. We first saw them with their mom, but since then it's just been them. They still run from us and are very skittish when we sit with them while they eat. We have named them Sassy and Fade. Sassy will meow at you through the glass, but hiss once you come out with the food. Fade will disappear like a Romulan warbird until she knows it's safe to eat. I will have post a picture of them.
