Maine's primary is today. I unfortunately will not be voting, as I missed the deadline to change party affiliation, and don't want to give my vote to any Republicans for any reason.

I'd be voting Platner and Troy Jackson if I could.

Was there any appreciable difference between the options anyway?

The buildup to the midterms is going to make me age about ten years. Gonna need lots of wonko's hopium to get through it.

There's something to be said for having something more than just blind hope, and actually being prepared for if things don't magically turn out just fine against all odds.

Stay safe out there. That's an order.

I don't need hopium. The party that wins the presidency typically loses a lot of seats in the midterms. That's when it's not a lame duck president with sub 30% approval ratings.

We might lose the redistricting fight by 3 seats. Republicans are going to lose 30-40, and probably the Senate. Have hope.

Under normal circumstances, yes.

Normal circumstances like eligible voters actually being allowed to go to the polls without having to worry about getting rounded up and carted off by ICE for not looking white enough.

Normal circumstances like the current administration not actively conspiring with half the states' governors to throw out or fabricate exactly as many ballots as he needs to bend the results in his party's favor.

Normal circumstances like the sitting President not being the kind of megalomaniac who'd declare martial law and block Congress from convening if all of the above fails to get him the results he wants.

GOP decided that Florida Man can run for governor of Alabama.

This is not going to go away for them. Under Oath Tubberville admitted to spending half his weekends in Florida.

Let's not forget having the Supreme Court in their back pocket. You know the Court is going to rule in favor of Trump in anything election related because their asses are on the line if the Dems take over.
