Word has it that it's basically Din being hired to protect a target that a rival bounty hunter is contracted to kill, so that, to me, would be a nice "stakes are high for the protagonist but very low for the world at-large" sort of plot. I miss when more genre movies were like that.
Well they were shaped almost like Vulture droids, in that H design.
The Algorithm just showed me this.
Andor arguably gave us the most serious take on the Galactic Empire and what it meant for individuals and planets under its rule.

The constant saying of "kalkite" wasn't that funny to me, but the beginning about 20 or so seconds where it seemed like he was just constantly making distracting noises with the chair and all the other Imperials were trying not to react to that struck me as funny. If it had kept going on like that for longer, I think that would have been more my sense of humor.
Apparently the actor playing Orson Krennic has been known to go on about kalkite in interviews, which may have been an inspiration for this redub/remix video.
For me, it was the extraneous chair pushes and the phrase "coat the Emperor's lenses" getting repeated for emphasis. The latter led one Tube of You commenter to wonder if deep substrate foliated kalkite is used in eyeglass prescriptions in the GFFA....

At the Game Awards, not one but TWO, new Star Wars games were announced.
First up is Fate of the Old Republic. No real details (not even game genre) aside from a cinematic first look trailer. The game is being developed by newly established Arcanaut Studios, headed by former Mass Effect and KOTOR director Casey Hudson.
But for something completely different, and more likely to be seen in the next few years, is Star Wars: Galactic Racer. Evoking the feels of pod racers and the Endor Speeder bikes, this game is being developed by Fuse Games. Established in 2023, Fuse Games is composed of former key staff from Criterion, developer behind Burnout and recent Need for Speed games.

I was all about Kotor back when it was new-ish (I wasn't a huge gamer, and didn't have a lot of extra money, so I tended to buy stuff well after it came out when the price would drop a bit). A while after Kotor II came out, I bought it, only to find out that my computer was too old and crappy to play it. I didn't get a new computer until the old one was basically completely dead, and by that time, we had a new baby at home, so I never really found the time to play it. I need to dig out the game and see if I can run it on that old desktop. Someday. When I have free time again.
But back on point, I would love to see a new Old Republic era Action RPG type game. That's a fun era with enough distance from the movies to have the freedom to do any fool thing the writers want to do.
A new KOTOR has my interest piqued.

I'll admit, I don't think I've ever bought a issue of this magazine. But, I did flip through it a few times while I was waiting in Barnes & Noble back in the day. Good times!
It's just that this magazine's been going for 30 years. It's been around for most of my life. It's a institution! And now it's just another thing that's ending. It makes me sad, even though I really have no personal stakes in this particular magazine. It just feels like a shame, even if it is inevitable.
We didn't get home Internet until late 1998, so prior to that I would devour these, usually at a Waldens Bookstore in the mall, while waiting for my mom to shop elsewhere, but I did talk my parents into buying me a fair few issues, or dropping money on them myself.
I honestly don't really recall if the writing was any good, but it had news about the POTF2 toys I was obsessed with, new novels, video games, comics, and most importantly the new movies and that was good enough for me.
I do recall being particularly fascinated by a quick blurb about unlicensed collectors coins, and a mention they often featured cross overs with other popular franchises, specifically mentioning "like Transformers". Always thought those would be incredible to see, but I've never found any trace of them.
I bought them regularly throughout the 90s, back when Anthony Daniels had his column/memoirs.
I did a big post over in the Marvel Toy Thread, time for the Star Wars update!
Epic World of Action is not continuing (which you might have been able to guess given the lack of support and stuff skipping US retail). On the back of the upcoming Mandalorian film, Hasbro is overhauling the kids segment as “ActionVerse”. ActionVerse are 4.5” sized figures with stylized sculpts and accessory trees.
More so than Marvel guys, the Star Wars guys are flipping out. Which I don’t understand: Hasbro has been doing 4” figures for the kids line for two years. It’s pretty obvious even going back to a semi-familiar scale after the flop of Mission Fleet wasn’t enough to goose up sales. Without getting too rambly, Star Wars fans have been REALLY delusional on what Epic was, had the ability to be and the kind of support the 4” fans were really giving the product.
In terms of the product itself? I’m cautiously optimistic. I’ve got a soft spot for stylization, granted, but it’s refreshing to see something even remotely fresh in this market segment that doesn’t feel like somebody checking off a box for a price point item. There’s clearly some “TMNT vibes” going on, but given TMNT is among the few brand still hitting with kids? That’s probably not a horrible idea. If nothing else, these and Marvel figures are seeing the most accessories the basic figures have seen in Well over a decade. Hell, that Stormtrooper has all the provisions for several variations JUST on the accessory trees/storage rack.
Pressers are rolling out for the stuff available at retail now-ish. Toy Fair is a month away, which will probably give us details on future figures and stuff tied to the new movie.
