I'll get the Hasbro Cybershark, but I wish that he'd gotten some metallic silver paint instead of the gray. Chrome is a no-go, and that's fine, but some nice bright shiny approximation would've been nice. (This would've been a great venue for the metal flake stuff they experimented with on AOTP...
Love that.
Give me a cozy little Maccadams wind down, ending on a note similar to Batman and Commissioner Gordon on New Year's Eve.
"Maybe I'll win in the next lifetime."
"Maybe I'll win MORE."
"Maybe you will, Megatron."

That reminds me of the old G2 ad/bumper whatever where he takes down Ramjet and celebrates by firing wildly into the air. I can't even imagine Peter Cullen voicing that, not even with the Ironhide drawl; it's all high pitched YEEE HAWWWW GOT IM BANG BANG BANG
On "G1"
I remember a few weeks ago when the SS86 Starscream hit retail here (not s Target exclusive, but maybe like 10 pieces showed up nationwide, so hardly any less exclusive or more widely available). Way too many people made having it, or not having it, their whole personality.
Well, and...
It's not remotely that deep. Both jobs are "can you sound like this", and failure to "sound like this" is in neither case "oh dip, he just invented a NEW way to sound".
If it helps make the point clearer, replace the offending bits thusly.
I don't know if it counts as "bringing something new" when it's literally a failure to keep up copying something old (which, to be fair, was probably basically the job description). I wouldn't audition for the role of William Wallace and absolutely fail to maintain a Scottish accent outside the...
I think I enjoyed it at the time, but that's about it. It did feel very Cullen-impression-y, and the way he modulated his voice (to affect the impression) made it seem clipped enough to feel somewhat one-note.
I just don't want any more Peter Cullen impersonations, which all of these lesser ones -- I don't blame people at all for lumping them together or mistaking them for one another -- have been.
If it's a deep, rich voice that has the needed acting range, good. If it happens to evoke Peter...
Yeah, that came across entirely off, to me. I appreciate him and I understand how difficult -- and all-important -- it is to get that bag THESE days, good lord, but... This is not the move.
I've just always wanted to have that little moment, that bit of acknowledging Rodimus' being thrust into leadership and needing that validation, while also providing a bit more connective tissue between Primes -- and the "arise/"Optimus..." line in the moment is the perfect thing to build on...
I tossed out some ideas in the 40th Tour thread. Mostly, Cullen's passing or not, I'd have gone for something that went for closure and a tribute, with a bit of meta commentary about how Prime's death becomes A Thing, but that the need for him himself to literally personally return and fight and...
Then they should make a Gobots-ish BM Jetstorm thing where the jet cockpit and nose is just THE robot head, like a plague doctor mask or the stork disguise from Robin Hood.
I'd rather they plan out a whole intentional chunk (a season, at least) before the episodes are even made.
I don't know if production realities always follow that sequence -- I do know a lot of shows certainly don't feel like they had that level of planning -- but that's what I'd prefer.
I'm not a fan of THAT slow a start, myself. Maybe cut or compress a few episodes. But I agree SOME chill, idyllic episodicness in the first handful of episodes helps sell the escalation later.
But again, maybe even the slow meandering pace would work well if the script weren't so flat. I can...
Armada had some fascinating ideas at the core (I'm not fond of the kids being part of the Mini-Con origin like that, but it works well in context). A clean error-free dub script that got punched up as much as RID2001's and Cybertron's would elevate the dub immensely.
As for this short...
