Originally Studio Series was solely for live action film stuff; then it expanded to include animated films. Then videogames and concept characters, and soon comics, but ultimately the idea is "Hey, here is a thing from a piece media that we're ostensibly trying to make look like it does in that...
I agree fully with this, aside from the Quintesson stuff. I think complaining about them "surviving" is veering well into the realm of nitpicking. Acting like those are the only beings on an entire planet is kind of weird. I've always said that the plot and story of the movie are absolute trash...
There's still a distinction in goals between the two, IMO: Studio Series is about trying (with various levels of success) to replicate stuff seen on screen (the live action movies at first, then the animated movies, then games and concept characters) and is going to be moving into comics next...

Looks good, but I'm guessing most people will balk at the $125 pricetag.
They only put out one titan a year; they specifically gave AotP the Studio Series commander class figure slot because they were taking the Titan slot for Studio Series. That's why were getting two AotP commanders this year, unlike the previous years where it's been one in each line.
Titan class toy for this year is already taken up by Grimlock, and the rest of the live action dinobots own the titan class for the following three years.
