Here here! I mean we're getting that G1 toy Optimus in Legacy...
We need a Generations Machine Wars Optimus Prime packaged with a 3.75" figure of a BotCon attendee to constantly shame him.
Again, I'm not throwing shade on those who enjoyed the stream system... I'm just being realistic. Already Cyberverse and EarthSpark don't fit into the system given that they are considered unique continuities. And any fan-made system is just that... fan made. I don't see Hasbro working to...
I get it, but I bought that set for Ratbat and even as someone who wanted a Classics Springer that iteration just... didn't work for me. "He can wield his rotors like a blade weapon on his arm!" felt like a huge leap to try and make a Springer connection.
"It's kinda like his sword!"
Oh yeah that was what I was thinking even back then. Thing is I don't think either mould works particularly well as Springer.
Springer's G1 alt modes may have been Cybertronian but I always read them as a car and an attack helicopter. An armoured personnel carrier and a rescue copter didn't...
I still have the red DotM Powerglide. He got replaced by CW Powerglide but I can't bring myself to get rid of him, even if he's stuck in storage. He was the last Transformer I ever bought at the Real Canadian Superstore and that, perhaps dumbly, means something to me.
I always wanted the green...
It was probably also reflected of fandom wants. People forget that Classics wasn't supposed to be anything but a filler line to bridge the gap between Cybertron and the first movie line after the movie got pushed back a year. Hasbro was kind of caught off guard by how well received Classics was...
I remember Blizzard using Marvel Ultimates as a shorthand to explain the 2016 live action Warcraft universe in relation to the main game timeline.
Might have even meant something if that movie didn't land like a fart in church at the box office
Oh yeah. "Powerglide needs to be light tan because a red A10 would be silly" stuff like that.
And ultimately when Hasbro finally got over trying to impose movie realism on the Classics-Universe-Generations stuff... I can't speak for everyone but it landed for me. My old Universe '08 Powerglide...
It makes sense storyline wise. They clearly had to work whatever they ended up doing into Club fiction and Sentinel being long dead is a harder task then just using Springer (though as TR proved, death never stopped anyone from coming back from the dead in comics before).
My only real desire...
I think that's the issue I have with the "always forward never back" approach. Making Sideswipe evocative of his Bayverse design certainly isn't backwards looking (or wasn't at the time) but it's probably best for the brand long term that Sideswipe generally leans a bit more into his classic...
No thanks. Like I said in my first post, it mostly comes down to vibes. And that's not a bad thing.
The transtech universal stream cluster system was a nightmare and thank G-d it's been rendered obsolete, imo. We don't need to replace it with more made up rules, especially when the existing...
