Troop Builders are still an opportunity for world building. It just feels like the current ethos at Hasbro says "let the media do that, it's not our job. Here's a toy labeled toy." Which is sad because the toyline doing world and character building is a big part of what made the brand great...
It's hard to care about a toy the makers don't even care enough about to give the character a name.
-ZacWilliam, generic product description "name" turns me off buying a Transformer completely.
My Anniversary Hulk finally arrived. Very happy to finally have a Hulk that I like. He's very 1970s Hulk art but that's fine because it's a really well done 70s Hulk look.
-ZacWilliam, now I still want a really good comic book Mr Fixit and especially a Pantheon era Smart Hulk.
It looks fine, but G1 Cyclonus isn't a toy I owned or even saw enough to develop any connection to that particular deco. To the point that I would absolutely not have recognized that's what this was unless posted. I'm satisfied with the previous release and other than the sticker thing couldn't...
Hmm. I want the Deluxe Insecticons but I don't really want to need a $90 gift set for one of them. I am torn as to weather I want this Ransack to look good.
-ZacWilliam, assuming it will be a Kickback recolor I think it will probably not look as G1 as I'd like reguardless, so maybe no worries?
This thread has come the closest of anything to making me want him. See this is why character and a sense of fun matter in bringing a toy to life.
ZacWilliam, Tell me a story of a giant and flamboyantly Scottish Miner Foreman whose weird and goofy and you'll make me want a $200 thing, but damn...
This will be the first Titan I have zero interest in buying. I mean it's fine but I've got the original and it's never really done anything for me. A just slightly better on is not something i need.
-ZacWilliam, the irony is I'd love more out of the box Titans, and I feel bad not supporting...
I'm fine with toy bios and fiction being online honestly.
I think it being available on or with every toy is a bit better because then every kid gets it even those who can't or wouldn't bother to look it up online, but that said if they're there to look up online that's an acceptable...
That's the big one isn't it. I would like new bio/toyline Fiction for Dragstrip or Skids but they have been around for so long I know who they are.
The Kingdom line didn't even offer a clear fictional framework for the Fossilizers as a thing, never mind offering any characterization for any of...
Personal canon is just not something that interests me much. I want real official good Transformers fiction, character building and lore. It's fun to play pretend and make fanfic and all but it's not the same thing and isn't really any consolation to me at this point.
-ZacWilliam, different...
No I think it comes from a Universe where Hasbro copy writers don't know which toys are from a comic and which from a cartoon and don't care enough to take a 1/2 second to check on the wiki.
In a line specifically dedicated to the Legacy of the franchise past that's slightly more damning than...
Elita is wonderful. Tarrantulas is great. Jiaxus is damn perfect. Knock out is good.
That's some wonderful stuff.
The Stunticons... I was not into the idea of redoing Combiner Wars but Menasor really was the worst of that line. It's a mess. So I'll happily take this.
-ZacWilliam, also his...
I don't like Legacy Laser Prime. The Proportions are too funky. Legs mostly I think, too long.
-ZacWilliam, they've yet to do a new Laser Prime that looks close to as good as the original. And since I have multiple from its original release they've all been an easy pass.
