The Twit destroying Twitter is a Twaitor

Hanlon's razor notwithstanding, I think we're at the point where we should look into just what Musk stands to gain if Twitter completely shuts down. Like, is he personally getting paid by the Mastodon people, that sort of thing.

I wouldn't discount the value of either side having one more in their corner even if it doesn't change who has a simple majority—one of those Democrats is still Chuck Schumer, after all.

    P&R Funnies!

I call BS on that; Scrooge McDuck is one of the three pillars propping up the idea that rich people are capable of not being evil in the minds of the public—alongside Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark. And frankly, he's doing more heavy lifting than the other two combined in the likability department.

The Twit destroying Twitter is a Twaitor

Elon is running Twitter exactly how I would expect its average user would, honestly: assuming that it's already such a hellsite that nothing anyone could do would make it any worse.

By the way if anyone's curious what Alaska's ballots looked like, I found a sample PDF.

I popped in to check on the status of the undetermined zones and... there are some interesting things going on in Alaska. Thanks to the specific way they've implemented their ranked-choice ballot system, both the House and Senate races have multiple Republicans in them, with wildly different...

What stupid thing did the GOP say or do this time? Episode 3!

Oh yes, yes, please, Republicans, waste the next two years trying things that won't get off the ground and will just piss off everyone in the meantime. I would love nothing more, save for maybe all of Washington getting crushed by an asteroid.

Can you convict someone of a crime everyone knows he didn't do because of a false confession? More importantly, can you use it as an excuse to overthrow the results he's falsely claiming credit for?

The Twit destroying Twitter is a Twaitor

Here's a thread I stumbled across yesterday from a former employee (not one of the ones who worked there recently), detailing an incident where a shady company tried to pressure them into logging and selling everything their users did. Like, every single thing their phone was capable of...

    Iran. Nuff said.

Considering they've already escalated to the "round up and murder literally everyone who complains" stage, I don't think a much larger timescale is an option anymore. That's the point where your only option is to start murdering them back, immediately, just out of self defense if nothing else.

Fivethirtyeight ran an editorial suggesting, among other things, that the Republicans underperformed due to how many rookies they had on the ballot, which got me to thinking... you know how every single one of the Republicans who voted to impeach Trump either quit, got primaried out, or didn't...

    Iran. Nuff said.

There aren't many countries left in the modern world with a weak enough military to be toppled by a revolution, I'd wager. And I don't pay enough attention to world events to know if Iran is one of them, but I wouldn't have bet money on it.

It's almost as if the only way to keep government officials honest is to do away with the concept of "reelections" altogether. You get one term. Make it count.

Deep Rock Galactic: space dwarves mining and killing!

Played a bit during the Free Weekend on the lappy, since it's ironically the most competent gaming system I have left at the moment (and unlike the big desktop monitor, it won't look terrible on the little screen if I run it at a sub-HD resolution to save frames). I learned a few things: (1) If...

Implying Big Oil (and all the other companies who have been using "inflation" as an excuse to jack up prices just because) won't lower prices just to fool people into thinking that a Republican-run country is good for their wallets, knowing that if they lose in 2024, there goes their lobbying...

Ohio's still using the paper ballots you fill in like a standardized test and feed into a scanner, so pretty painless. There's an amendment on the ballot this year to block 17-year-olds from voting in the primaries, so I voted against that... nothing as interesting as the amendment from 2006 to...

On the subject of political ads, I wonder if any of the more moderate Republicans that managed to survive the primaries have been the subject of attack ads from the far right. Because we've talked about the possibility of them being that petty, but I have yet to see it firsthand.
