UK politics thread – meet the new boss, same as the old boss

OK, hypothetical situation: You've told the Covid inquiry that you lost your phone in 2021 so there's absolutely no way you can turn over your messages to them. You then get into an argument on Twitter and the only way to prove you're right is to post a screenshot of one of your messages from...

Skyrim! Because all the really good stuff never actually leaves.

That touches on a problem I've noticed with people doing YouTube essays on various aspects of Skyrim, but using footage of heavily-modded games. One guide to the Daedric Princes I watched recently used footage of Daedric shrines from a mod, which lead to the issue that a bunch of the shrines did...

Skyrim! Because all the really good stuff never actually leaves.

Nice to see the update fixed a bunch of long-standing game bugs as well. I have, however, spotted one or two new bugs (the barkeep outfit worn by male tavern owners now has an unsightly gap at the top of the boots).

Trump's gag order has been reinstated: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-gag-order-fraud-trial-reinstated-appeals-court-judge/ That's an interesting way to phrase "he should be able to tell people to harass the court staff if he wants to."

    Comixology

Comixology got me into buying and reading comics regularly, and Amazon murdering it got me back out of it. I do miss it occasionally.

What stupid thing did the GOP say or do this time? Episode 3!

He denounced the ruling as a politicized smear and is only not seeking re-election because of the possible press attention on his family. Basically another Republican denying that they've done anything wrong despite the massive evidence.

    Police behaving badly

Slightly embarrassing for NZ police: https://www.1news.co.nz/2023/11/09/ex-cops-social-media-pages-an-ongoing-embarrassment-for-police/ An ex-cop was running a Facebook page where cops were posting homophobic memes and other generally offensive stuff.

The blockchain is going to destroy everything

Sounds like, from what I read elsewhere, the UV bulbs used were ones ordinarily used for sterilizing surfaces, and thus were far too powerful for what they were being used for.
