Yes, but scientists are currently looking for a cure for this condition. For the price of only a cup of coffee a day, you can help.
Actually, I have to be very careful in this arena as well. I love tiny little guys, so I've had to strongly resist the siren song of those third party toys that...
I would say yes and no. On one hand, it's not like a kid is going to know who the hell Star Convoy was and therefore reject the toy as being an old obscure character that they don't care about. You can please both camps by doing new, fun toys of old characters.
On the other hand, though...
I've been enjoying the current mix. I'll admit that it is probably TOO G1 heavy, but if you asked me to describe exactly what I would want out of a Transformers line, it would be something like "G1 more-or-less in full, making sure to include the weird obscure characters that haven't had a new...
That has the added advantage of the troop builders being reasonably affordable. I can't justify buying too many copies of a $30 figure, but a $5-10 Authentics figure would be doable.
There may be some at Hasbro open to the idea. They've been juuuuuust barely dipping their toes in the water with things like including the spare gang-molded head in with the Creatures Collide multipack or purpose-built changeable heads in the Troop Builder multipack.
Two thoughts on these:
1) They are totally missing the boat if they don't do a Straxus. A character who canonically spent a good portion of time as a head in a jar of goo.
2) I just now realized how these work after taking another look at the packaging. When you knock off the target/plug at...
Those are so bizarre, but I kind of love them? Something about the heads floating in water tanks mounted into robot suits just hits in a very 1950's B-movie monster way that I find very appealing.
Huh, I stand corrected. I was definitely misremembering how he looked in the cartoon. The arms are definitely planes, but those legs are pretty similar to Menasor style, and that is what the new toy looks to replicate.
RotF Ransack is one of my favorite little guys. I would pay handsomely for a new, Deluxe or Voyager version of him*. He's a ding-dang WWI biplane that turns into an antique Seeker robo-skeleton wearing an engine as a hat! He is the best thing ever and I will hear no arguments to the contrary...
