The Midterms

They probably won't rule on it till after the election: just because it would functionally ruin the election in that district.

I am hoping and praying that they don't let this obviously unqualified man even run for governor. The GOP knew that he didn't qualified and put on a show of a hearing where they railroaded him into it. They actually had a reasonable alternative to go with too. Now I am hoping that the courts do the right thing and this guy gets disqualified before the race due to his Florida Man status, and the GOP ends up having to ask people to write in a candidate.

I'm getting nervous about the midterms and could use some hopium.
-GOP is pumping hundreds of millions of dollars into districts that were +20 for trump two years ago.
-Their continued refusal to debate democrats isn't being seen as sticking it to the libs, it's being seen as cowardly.
-GOP reps are doing they're very best (which is still shyte because they are incompetent.) to distance themselves from trump, but no one is letting them forget or get away with it.
-Some republican candidates are so hugging stupid and incompetent, they're repeatedly getting caught on hot mics admitting their rhetoric is right from DC.
-The only thing driving the cult out to vote is the promise of a 5K cheque... and even they don't believe it'll happen.
-There are places where there's only 1% undecided voter population. So everyone is paying attention, and have already made their choice.
-Vote.org is apparently seeing record traffic for new voter registrations, and double checking existing ones. Consistently.
-States where early voting is happening is seeing record numbers for early votes.
-Trump is slipping deeper into his dementia and cloud screaming every day; I still believe he'll die before the votes are tallied.

We're not that lucky. He'll chug along getting crazier and crazier until the next presidential election. McConnell is a barely functioning human at this point, and he's still being rolled out for votes.

Hey, we thought the same thing about my grandfather with alzheimers until he literally told the night nurse he was going to die and keeled over on the spot. My experiences with dementia say "expect the unexpected" because once you're past a certain point: it's not a slow decline anymore, it's a switch. Clicky and done.

Only the last one was hopium. Everything else was fact.
None of which really matters because everything up to this point has been a combination of distraction and preparation. Their real gameplan begins when they lose in November.

The fact is: trump is dying, no one else in the regime can hold it together and even he's losing that right now. After the midterms will be two years of investigations and no policy whatsoever as democrats refuse to push his agenda, and trump refuses to sign anything congress sends up.

And once the regime is collapsed entirely: then the real work begins.

Edit: and again; I still don't believe he'll live to see the results. It can happen literally like flipping a switch.

I just don't think the universe is kind enough to get rid of Trump THAT soon. He might not comprehend his fall, but I still think we're stuck with a full term with him.

The only reason he's not already dead is presidential health care, and even with that he's clearly in decline. I just hope that when he does finally go, it's in public, so they can't McConnel him. Not that Vance filling in the rest of the term will be much better, but just never having to hear that orange cancer again will be a huge relief.

Vance might be intelligent enough to not make stupid decisions that piss off his own side, though. Personally I've been relishing the skyrocketing gas prices, because it's hurting the chuds who daily drive black-smoke-spewing monster trucks and voted for Trump more than it hurts me, and they have to be seething about it deep down. Two more years of Trump means two more years of opportunities to make them miserable. President Vance would keep doing all the things we hate but the chuds love, like sending ICE to round up and disappear minorities and political dissidents, or shut down solar and wind farms and funnel more public money into Big Coal. Hell, so would probably any other Republican at this point; all the ones who had a shred of decency left are either dead or retired.

Vance would be in the same position as trump: no movement after the mids. And have the bonus situation of not controlling the base, or the GOP. They hate him. They wouldn't push his agenda regardless of their ability to. The money was stolen by: and by consequence is controlled by the trump family. They ain't getting it back, and money would be the only reason anyone does anything for vance.

I'm glad my election day voting location is in walking distance. Though for some reason my early voting location is located somewhere in Narnia.

So I might be sick.

The Alabama supreme court dismissed the case against tubervile's residency qualifications. :( They have literally opened the legal door to anyone running for office in the state of Alabama, regardless of qualifications, requirements, or even citizenship. They have effectively made the political parties the authority on who can run for office.

It's an odd sensation to have, when you physically feel your hope for democracy leaving your body.
