Looks like we have confirmation on the rumoured Gravedigger collab! Going to be a Leader class, hopefully this one is more Generations style than the other simplified Monster Jam figures they showed off recently.

And yet I still bought both of them for 50% of their RRP.
Based on what I've learned on Lego fansites, this information indicates that you live in Europe rather than North America.

The monster truck collabs either being Happy Meal level stuff or Leader class, and nothing in between is very funny to me.

Well, there was a minicon and Power Core Combiner, both clearly inspired by the same truck, but not sure that really counts...

Same, it's an intriguing design. And frankly the Monster Jam stuff they've shown is not their best "simplification". I wonder what constraints, if any, they were under, because they've done way better kiddy monster trucks before.

I'm just looking forward to getting another character attached to the monster truck alt mode. Dirt Boss hasn't made it to Generations, and despite having a pretty much ideal name for a monster truck TF, I wasn't a fan of the design (too spindly, & need to find something cool to do with the giant wheels).

You'd think such large wheels would themselves be able to transform in all sorts of ways, just because of their size and volume giving so much engineering space.

Maybe, but the need to spin and the way they're held onto the main body by stalks kind of limits that.

Sort of a different kind of "monster" truck, that.

But yeah, PCC Mudslinger/Salvage also has big tires that end up on his shoulders. My point was that options were a bit more limited than "all sorts of ways" due to those elements. Their size gives them some options but also takes away some, since they can't tuck away or integrate into the body as easily as regular wheels.

Well, let's see. Off the top of my head:

1. Could do something like BM Blastcharge where there are joints between the wheels and they become tube-y limbs/limb parts
2. the tires could be split...lengthwise? and flip out horizontally to form armour or something. Kindof like G2 Dreadwing's legs flip out to become tank treads.
3. tires can separate in half and have joints inside to turn them to become limb armour, or even shoulder pads like Cable in Marvel, or Dash Rendar in Star Wars
4. tires can flip together to form the core of the torso, almost like G1 seeker arms.
5. the tires could compress to become more flat/less wide, and be used as body armour on 5mm pegs
6. the tires can unravel into missile pods or spider legs or something on the back, think Dirt Boss but actually doing something
7. each tire could detach, and transform differently into different handheld weapons. I'm thinking about Cybertron Soundwave's bombs with this one.
8. they could all combine together to form a giant bazooka or rocket launcher

I like the detach/form weapons options the best, and these kind of line up with my argument (it's easier to do stuff with them if you pop them off and break them down as opposed to becoming integral body parts). 6 in particular would be nice (Dirt Boss with Landmine-style bladed spinners or Nitro Zeus-style back cannons). 7 makes me think of the RID2015 Mini-Cons, which is fun in its way (imagine a big truck launching its tires then transforming into robot mode to start attacking too). If the budget gives it even a minimal base wheel that the big wheelbots attach to (so the vehicle mode is reasonably "intact" if a kid loses one), it could be good.

With a monster truck, the tires are meant to be big, so the proportions would always be kind of a battle (plus there's four of them to find a place for, although pairing them off would help). Blastcharge had this to deal with and weird leg articulation (I do miss that mold though). Although I kind of dig the idea of big barrel shaped cannon arms.
