Never said they did, broseph.Well yes, but the people running this show had absolutely no idea how things would go with the movies, now did they?

Anyone else a little miffed that they didn't setup Strife?
Wasn't Stryfe in the 92' series as a cameo? I could swear I remember him.Anyone else a little miffed that they didn't setup Strife?

To be fair, the original series had its share of clunkers, probably more than people tend to remember. In fairness, even a "mediocre" episode is going to come off worst than it is, simply because the average for X-Men 97 has just been THAT good.Episode 5:
I'll be blunt, I didn't like this episode.
First off, I really don't like Maverick and Kane being reduced to Hi-then-Die characters as glorified cameos. Like, I don't care about either character, but I still feel like they deserved more respect then what they got. Second, I really don't like the Brood, I've never encountered a story that I felt was made better by there existence. Third, I really really don't like that this episode was basically just an excuse to give wolverine back his adamantium so soon when they really didn't do anything with him without it. Wolverine's admission at the end feels like the writers admitting they don't know what to do with him without the claws. Fourth; I'm not sure this episode really does Morph any favors either. He's kinda just a whiny bitch through out, and while there are a few nice moments that might be good fo his character... they still feel kinda lacking to me. Fifth; Sorta tied to the second, but I also feel like they didnt really do anything with the Weapon X/+ stuff beyond "heres a few easter eggs for the comic nerds to geek out over" rather then them dealing with actual stuff tied to the program and its just surprise, Brood!
This is probably the first episode of the 97 series that I feel is bad on almost every level.
Watched the three episodes today. Second episode is my favorite.
We check in on all three time periods; Future, Present, and Past.
First up is Cable's origins based on the old Cyclops and Pheonix miniseries. I know Storm is Omega level, but her being able to influence solar storms seems a bit much. Episode seems to confirm that the Ashanti Mistress is Racheal Summers, something I dont remember if it was ever made this blatent in the comics. Mostly the episode is about Scott and Jean trying to be parents to Nathan.
Episode 2 gets props for changing the opening to be X-Force themed. Jubilee gains several levels in badass as she ends up tanking an enemy encampment pretty much solo. We see a lot of cameo of modern X-kids that didn't exist in 97/98, but we also see several that will go on to form Gen X, and Jubilee's new costume is her Gen X look. I am wondering if she'll be starting the team this season. We also get Emma Frost, but not sure if she's mentor material like she was in the comics. Though some of the mutants Jubs frees look to be her Cuckoos.
Epi 3, back to the Past. Magneto is trying to change En Sabah Nur to be the first X-Man and to believe in Mutant-Human relations. Charles is skeptical of this both becuase of who he knows Apocalypse to be, and becuase he fears changing the time stream too much. Main villian is Rama Tut who most know best as Kang the Conquerer. Things don't go well, as En learns of the X-men hording tech to build something and then Rama launches an attack. TBC
I loved the first episode, but felt it was too easy for them to beat apocalypse there. Like once they got into the city and took out the horsemen, that was it.
The X-force episode was great, but I think that War went down too easily. Also, I really think that they overdid it with not wanting to kill a horseman of Apocalypse. Like it went beyond being the good guy to the point where it didn't make sense.
Episode 3 was good, but they don't really show much of En sab nur's abilities as the first mutant. John DeLancie voicing Kang was great, especially when he was talking for multiple versions of himself. Also, why is hoarding the tech such a crime?
I still see him being possible, maybe as part of Apocalypse's grand plans.
Episode 5:

That's part of the reason I hope they DON'T revive Magneto going forward. Combined with the original series, they've written the best possible arc you could do with Magneto. Even with his gruesome death, it fit his character and moves everyone around him forward, narratively. There isn't much to be gained bringing him back.Man, I really liked episode 5. I also loved seeing Sabertooth portrayed right and everyone surprised that he knew technology.
Watch episode 6. Again, episode 5 feels like a “decompression” episode to do something different and fun with characters out of the main arc. And restore the Wolverine status quo like they would have done in the 90sUnfortunately this season seems to be on reverse course as of episode 5.
Only saw the first two eps but I'll catch up.
Was Askani shown in the original toon too? It looked like she used her power to pull the X-Men through time but ep2 ended with Nathan doing a machine thing. Did she use a machine?
Wasn't Iceman in this toon version of X-Factor? From that one shot episode.
They really tried to make Jubilee cool here, with all her action stuff.
I remember Cable having that cube thing on his armor. Is that Ship? I know the term bodyslide so I wonder if he'll use it.
Loved the Polaris episode, and I am totally seeing the onslaught build up that they are doing.
Onslaught definitely feels like something that's on the table, but I hope they hold off on doing anything with that storyline until Season 3. Maybe have Joseph show up towards the end of the season as a tease, but save Onslaught's storyline until next season.
One major bad guy at a time, please.
