She did not. That is Rachael Summers, and she doesn't need a machine. Cable did use a machine once he got it.
I know Askani is Rachel Phoenix. It's just weird that they showed the time machine ala introducing another time travel device when Askani just said it was all her doing. She never said she didn't have the power to send them back.

Iceman was not in that version of X Factor. It is a government agency and Iceman was hunting them down because he thought that they killed his fiancé. In reality she wanted to go back to the super hero life and faked her own disappearance to avoid having a conversation with Bobby about it. When Iceman finds out, she is already dating Havok, so Iceman just leaves in disgust.
Holy cow, you're right! I totally forgot the episode detail that Bobby was looking for Polaris, haha. I just remembered Bobby was in the X-Factor episode.

I know in the comics it originally was something related to the gray station/computer network, which was a time traveling space station that Cable used as his base in orbit. It's AI is called "Professor".
Professor totally sounds familiar, yeah. I don't recall what happened to him.

Thanks for the answers!

Saw eps 3 and 4.

Is Baal anybody in the comics?

I liked for a moment that Kang might have been trying to stop Apocalypse himself. But he just sounded too super villain y.

I remember Ship. I recall she was only in one OG ep and Beast had tears when he had her self destruct or something. Nice that a small bit was in the intro.

Magneto should have been shown with a bloody hole else everybody would assume he was teleported or dematerialized or shrunk or whatever.

Externals! Im wracking my brain on who she is. I only remember Gideon... Reignfire (who was Sunspot), Cannonball (who's immortal)... who else were the Externals? I know they were killed off. By Gamesmaster?

Is the lady... Locus? Tempo was a MILF (Mutant I-something Liberation Front). Dang it, I can't recall.

I'll watch the last two eps tomorrow then backread.

Just Mutant Liberation Front, they didn't go for the MILF joke. (Also, the MLF first appeared in 1989, the first recorded use of MILF was 1992 and it wasn't popularized until 1999.)

"Are you sure you want your students hanging out with the unstable school dropout?" "Please. They've met Wolverine." - Polaris and Prof X.

Yeah, it is a bit ambiguous, but that is just because they are adapting the comic storyline into a 22-minute tv episode. In the comics, Rachael puts their consciousnesses into new bodies, and they go by the names Slym and Redd, and spend 12 years raising Cable, teaching him how to use his powers. They never tell Cable that they are his parents in the comics though. They only snap back to the present when Rachael dies.

Can you imagine how crazy Polaris is? Imagine faking your own death/kidnapping just to avoid having a break-up with your fiancé. Also, Iceman might have decided to join her if she had talked to him about it.

Professor totally sounds familiar, yeah. I don't recall what happened to him.

I think Apocalypse stole him once in the original series, but I don't remember what happened after that. I should rewatch the original series again.

Magneto should have been shown with a bloody hole else everybody would assume he was teleported or dematerialized or shrunk or whatever.

I think that they were going for that. If Joseph shows up later, it will give him more credibility.

Saw ep 5 and 6.

Aw man, they did Garrison Kane dirty with that death. Maverick too but Kane's was worse. Horrible. Sabertooth is smart now? That's ok. Wolverine got two friends killed just to get his claws back? Dang. Omega Red almost didn't have to be there actually.

Lorna got a lot of attention here. Like Jubilee. Don't recognize all the kids. Who's Wing? That's not Icarus the other Guthrie sibling?

Is that Didi Death from High Cost of Living by Chris Bachalo?!?!

Yeah, I thought that was a lame way for him to die in the crash.

Sabertooth is smart now? That's ok.

Sabertooth is a brutal savage, but that is just because we see him when he is fighting. He has always been smart, and uses technology.

Wolverine got two friends killed just to get his claws back? Dang. Omega Red almost didn't have to be there actually.

Yeah, I wasn't diging how cold Wolverine was too, especially given how much he has shown that he cared for morph in the original run.

Lorna got a lot of attention here. Like Jubilee.

I am so glad that she is out of X-factor now. I was shocked by Havok's reaction to all of it. Also, what the heck is that X-factor lady thinking. "Don't hurt the terrorist cult members that are actively shooting at you!" WTF?

The terrorist cult members were actively willing to martyr themselves for their cause. Getting killed by a mutant would encourage their cause.

Almost makes me wish they were on the Punisher's radar.

I get that idea and how it works, but I have always had an issue with it. To me, the people that would join a cause like that don't need the encouragement of martyrs. It's just something that bumps them along the road that they have already chosen.

Honestly I thought Kane's death was fairly appropriate. He was in the Cartoon for exactly as long as he ever mattered in the Comic.

-ZacWilliam, he's one of those that got a ToyBiz toy only because the toys came out so close to the comics that they had to assume everyone was gonna be important and that never actually happened for Kane.

Episode 7:

Okay, this is easily my favorite episode of the series. Part of that is a bias for my boy Nightcrawler, but even then this a largely damn good episode. We get the Acolytes lead by Exodus who kidnap Greydon Creed who is trying to run for President. So a team of X-men is sent to retrieve him safely or at least extract him far enough for X-factor to bring him back to America. Colossus is back this episode, as an Acolyte. I don't like that they killed Majik to get him there, but they can't really use his comic reasoning. While there is some stuff that happens with the, not having their powers and Bishop and Polaris having, honestly pointless, side quest due to being seperated from the others the real meat of this episode is that Nightcrawler convinces the Acolytes to put Creed on trial to determine if execution is the right thing for him or not. This trial is basically the core of the x-men themes and messages summed up and flipped as Creed is a human born to a pair of mutants that cast him out and how he's dealt with that. Its a short trial since the episode only has about 10 minutes, but it manages to be the best 10 minutes in either season of 97 imo. Neither side is right, neither side is wrong. No one is strawmanned, there's no very special lesson learned, everyone remains perfectly in character, and for a brief fleeting moment one might even feel sympthy for Creed and even think that Nightcrawler might have gotten through to him. But no. Creed shoots Exodus in the back (and I really hope he's not actually dead, because 1. that's a waste of a great character to take him off the table after one appearance and 2. the guy is nigh-immortal in the comics, he should be able to survive) which rightly infuriates Nightcrawler who bamfs him to the middle of the Antarctic and leaves him after verbally ripping him a new one and giving one of the most savage and brutal lines in the entire series. "You may not be a mutant, but you are most certainly your parent's son." of course they let X-Factor know where he is so he's not left to die. Then we get a teaser with X-Force seemingly discovering a dead Apocalypse next to a burnt card. I'll eat my non-existent hat is Apocalypse really died off screen.

This is just an excellent episode, and might be as close as we get to an adaption of 'God Loves, Man Kills' in this series.

Saw 7th ep. Not too wild about it but loved seeing the Acolytes. I know them from the Jim Lee run and I hate their boring standard uniforms (except Senyaka, I think, the whip guy? Cuz he had a cool face scarf) and their non superhero names (I recall the green exo armor lady was named Nogoshovinkov something long that starts with N). I recall the bald guy, I think I see Cortez, the other lady. Just fun seeing cameos, hehe

Who was the armored guy that Polaris used?

Nightcrawler's bit was great, yeah.

Polaris, now is not the time, haha

Two eps left? Dang.

This was a great episode. Loved seeing Colossus in this episode. Sad to see that his sister died again. Never put together that she was the mutant from that weird new mutants film. Nightcrawler was great in this as mentioned by everyone else.

Ummmmm isn't he Apocalypse's current host body, or rather the one shriveled up in the tube I guess now. I think he was possessed by ol Nur near the end of the original run.
I mean, an animation error would be in line with Akom's proud history of "quality" on its animation :p

Wait! You're right! I remember that ep! Near the end, final season. Apocalypse was looking to have... who? As his host body? But the X-Men stopped that thing so Apocalypse settled for taking over Cortez's body. I remember the ending where he just remolded Cortez's flesh to become his own usual self. Dang! Thanks for the refresher!

Saw the 9th ep.

Was this in the comics anywhere? Or a new plot? Its pretty cool, yeah.

Kurt was awesome! What a powerhouse!

What was the name of the Amalgam version of Gambit Obsidian in the Amalgam comics? I know Rogue was amalgamed with Gypsy to make Runaway. But what was Gambit Obsidian's name?

Yes and No. In short: In the comics, after M-Day depowered Mutants, Apocalypse came around saying he had the cure. Gambit joins him becoming the horseman of Death with an appearace similar to here; but that storyline also had several other X-men allies as Horsemen as well, with Apoc just being Apoc and not body jacking anyone afaik. Though Gambit only joined at a Double Agent to figure out what Apoc's real plan was. So yeah, this was both in the comics and a new plot at the same time. This episode is largely a sequel to one from the original series.
