I can't remember the last time I saw a Walmart exclusive in store.

On an unrelated note, I also can't remember the last time I've been in a Walmart. I'm going to guess when the first wave of Swapticons came out. I'm pretty sure I picked up Hot Rod from my local Walmart.

Walmarts near me either get buried in their exclusives and have them lingering around for months, or they never get them at all. There is no overlap.
That's my experience too.
Seems like a distribution issue more than anything

The Earth mode Hound mould was original released in a Target-exclusive five pack. It's very possible that Target has "dibs" on this mould and so Hasbro chose to release it again in a Target-exclusive subline.
Er, it was first released at normal retail as Detritus, while the five-pack with Hound was a Selects release exclusive not to Target but to online retailers like Pulse, BBTS, and the like.

Target was originally going to have a single release of Hound in Buzzworthy Bumblebee, but that release was canceled and put in the Selects five-pack instead. This MTMTE re-release is the first time Target has carried the mold as Hound.

I could have sworn that five pack was a Target exclusive. Like... this is some Mandela Effect level mind screwing 😵

Either way, Mr. Block Everyone is still a schmuck. I'm fairly confident about that.

In all fairness, nearly every other multi-pack has been a Target exclusive, so it wasn't that far off the mark.
Yeah, the only big multi-packs that haven't been Target exclusives were the... Selects ones.

I don't have a Walmart or a Target wthin driving distance, nor do I have a store that stocks Transformers with any reliability. I have to buy all of my stuff online and since I'm in Alaska that usually means I don't get free shipping. I pay through the nose on shipping and it'll still take several weeks to get to me.

And now Walmart is charging a ridiculous fee on top of the normal ones to ship to Alaska/Hawaii. Between shipping, fees and that new tacked on "go screw yourself" fee, $25 Outback was going to cost me nearly $50. I wound up going with Hasbro Pulse becuase it was cheaper at only $40 with shipping.

A quick check of the Wiki seems to indicate that most of the Selects sets of Deluxe and/or larger figures (not counting sets of Micromasters, etc) were 2-packs or 3-packs, with the only real exception being the Autobot 5-pack. Meanwhile, Target has had 4 different 4-packs since Legacy; it's not hard to see how that largest Selects pack could get conflated with the Target ones, especially since Hound was originally solicited as a Target-exclusive?

This just in: if a store isn't located exactly where you are, it's an "obscure corner store in Botswana"

ITT: person discovers stores and their exclusives exist independent of them and their circumstances
The point is that this mold of Hound hasn't been available at mass retail globally. It's not a concept anyone with even a semi-functioning brain-cell has difficulty understanding.

Somebody who's posts he can see wanna remind him that "this mold of Hound" did see global release at mass retail back in Legacy Evolution as Detritus?

In fact, it's not even a unique original mold. It's the Siege Hound mold that's been rereleased, redecoed, and retooled ad nauseum.

Somebody with a semi-functioning brain cell would work something out to acquire the toy they want.
If I could get a Japanese exclusive repaint of a figure from a Japanese exclusive line in the United States then someone in Japan can get an exclusive figure from one of the US' largest big box retailers.

I don't know the last time I actually bought a Target exclusive in a Target store. 2007 maybe? They're always easy enough to find online. Walmart exclusives have been way more hit or miss.
