On that note, how many of you are still holding out hope that remakes of 2 and 3 are actually forthcoming? I figured if it was ever going to happen, they'd want to get it done in time for the new one.

But but but... Everyone swore up and down that Nintendo was just sitting on them! Was sure to be released! Just like StarFox Grand Prix!!!!!

Needless to say, crap like that is why I try to call people out as soon as they start talking about leaks.

Honestly I expect 2 to be on NSO.. Not sure about 3. Apparently one of the devs at one time said it'd be hard to port. Dunno how true that is.

Metroid Prime 3 was built around the Wii Waggle, so I think the big issue is trying to integrate all that gameplay into a standard control scheme. It’s similar to the issues Skyward Sword faced in potential ports. But with the mouse functionality on Switch 2, that seems like a viable alternative.

But I also recall that MP2 and 3 didn’t have anywhere NEAR the impact and sales that MP1 did, so that might be a factor as well.

I mean.. the Switch 1 and 2 have the motion controls too. But I think trying to figure out how to play it in handheld mode.

I'm really looking forward to playing MP4, but I never did get around to MP3. I'd like to finally play that first. My Wii currently isn't hooked up, though. Have it prepped to add an HDMI output to it, just need to clear out my work area. I'm done with work for the year after Friday, so I'm hoping to work on that next week.

Actually have a bunch of projects like that I want to work on. Re-capping my NES & SNES, fixing my horribly drifting PS4 controllers with hall-effect joysticks, etc.
Well, MP3 is just audio, while MP4 gives you audio and video, so I'd say you're okay with just skipping to MP4.

I've never played 3, so I don't know how reliant it was on waggle gimmicks. I was under the impression that they just swapped out the dual analogs for some sort of stick-to-move, point-to-aim setup like the Call of Duty ports. Which might have led to a need for more precise aiming, but otherwise shouldn't have made it too hard to port to anything with a gyro.

There's some stuff where you move the nunchuck to manipulate Samus' hand, so a bit more than just a pointer. Could probably just automate a lot of those sequences, and map things like yanking with the grapple beam to just a button press. A bit more work than a standard remaster, but not a lot.

In an actual remake, you'd be able to just remove or replace the mechanic, but I don't think anyone is expecting a true remake of any of the Prime games.

I say we repeatedly quote this from now on so that the memory of what he did is always right in front of him.
Only reason it's not in my signature right now is because I feel it'd lose something without the context of the thread.

Anyway, just received this as a holiday gift:

I've heard the Switch 2 sales are down. IMO the problem is they relied to heavily on third parties to sell it, a relaunch with a serious Switch 2 exclusive Zelda or Mario game is probably needed.

You've heard wrong.

99 percent of the jive on youtube is articles are Grifters/haters that are quiet litterally pulling stuff from their asses.

A good bit of them because they are absolutely pissed that Nintendo DARES to get Duskbloods. *no I'm not kidding. I was literally on a discord where a bunch of "Fromsoft" fans decided that they would start lying all they could, cause in their mind, if the switch 2 failed Duskbloods would be on the PS5 "Where it belonged."

BTW... Same people AREN'T Reporting that Sony sales are MASSIVELY down as well. Almost like the economy is jive.

35% fewer sales in the first holiday season compared to the Switch is still impressive when you consider everything the Switch had going for it that the Switch 2 doesn't: a three month head start, the most impressive Zelda and Mario games ever, rereleases of all the games that were on the WiiU but no one played because they were on the WiiU, and the fact that no one else was making anything like it. Nintendo will never repeat the success of Breath of the Wild. Once you go open world, you're Ubisoft; all you can do is keep releasing that same game over and over again with a new coat of paint and getting made fun of for it. Mario will probably go open world this gen and then he'll be in the same boat. And the Steam Deck is going to hound them until they can invent a new hardware gimmick to exploit.

(And hell, 65% as many units moved in six months as the Switch moved in nine is still probably the most success any console has had this whole generation. It's probably more units than there are PS5s in the wild, total.)

And what the hell is a "relaunch" anyway? You don't get to go "That one didn't count; this is the real release date" of a product that's already been in customers' hands for a year.

Just to point out.. The Wii U has sold more than the Steam Deck is.

Besides the Steam Dic... err.. Steam Deck fanboys claiming it, the steam deck is a nothingburger.

And this is coming from someone who owns a steam deck.

Relaunch, as in what happened with 3DS, after six months they dropped the price and had games for it like Super Mario 3d Land, Mario Kart 7 instead of ports and it did well.

Speaking of 3DS just occurred to me they could have done a VR headset accessory with those instead of Virtual Boy.
