A few years ago, we did an in-depth story on the Transformers Earth Wars mobile game. How has it changed, and what is it like now? Read on to find out!
So let me start off by saying that the game is basically you building, arranging, and upgrading a base and then assembling and leveling up a squad of Autobots or Decepticons to attack the other faction’s outposts. If you don’t remember our last article on the game, here is a brief recap of our last story on Earth Wars. The general idea was that the game was extremely stingy with three star shards, and even more so for the four star shards, used to make characters to use in base attacks. The free crystals gave out an extremely low rate of three star shards, and the achievements took no time at all to complete all but one of them. Also, the game gave you expensive bundles to attempt to get characters, of which you would spend hundreds of dollars trying to get a character and not get them.
Well, several years have passed since then, so how is the game now?
I have to answer truthfully, and say that the game is much better. Let me break down some of the game changes.
First of all, there are no more one star characters. Those were worthless after a few hours of gameplay so it isn’t a big loss. The lowest that you can get now is a two star version of the Autobot or Decepticon you are getting. These serve as good general bots to test out the powers with, but won’t really be used that much. they make a good replacement for what the one star bots were meant to be originally at launch.
Secondly, rewards are a lot better than what they used to be for the events. War rewards are a lot better than they used to be. Space Ape has at least doubled the amount of four star shards that you get a month and the three star shards are now so plentiful a free-to-play player could get a new three star crystal every week if they are in a good alliance. In addition, they have added character shards so even if you don’t get the bot that you wanted, you can work towards getting it with the character shards.
Also, new gameplay modes have been added, such as Titan Assault. This mode allows you to level up your faction’s titan(Either Metroplex or Trypticon) and then send them to attack enemy bases kaiju style. Every fifth round you have to fight the enemy titian, and then the next set of bases gets a little more difficult with a huge jump in difficulty in the titan at the end. Four star Trypticon on base 15 is almost impossible for the majority of players. Fortunately, the game mode resets every week, so you can play the mode again on Monday after you get stuck fighting the four star titan.
A very recent addition to the game is a feature called Dispatch missions. This is where you can send your unused bots out on missions for prizes. Missions can last for a few hours all the way up to a few days so make sure that you check to see which one you’re sending your bots on before hitting the send button. You don’t want to send your war team bots on a three day field trip.
Another thing that has been added recently is the Cyber Pass seasons. Basically, you can earn prizes based on gameplay achievements. These achievements are in both daily achievements that unlock new goals every day such as destroy 10 mortar cannons, as well as larger goals that can take weeks to achieve like win 400 battles. The cyber pass season has a free version that everyone can play, as well as a paid version that unlocks more prizes. The fee for the paid tier is $9.99, and the first month got a lot of epic prizes for that small price tag. The most recent cyber pass seasons haven’t been as lucrative, but still could be worth it, especially since they raise your maximum fuel from 50 to 75, which can really help during leaderboard events. Speaking of achievements, there have been a ton of new ones added, so there is always something to strive for.
Overall, the game has massively improved over the past few years, and I hope that the game continues to do so over the next few years.
