There's a difference between "knowing" Trump hired child sex slaves from the world's most notorious child sex slave tycoon, and having copies of the receipts circulating all over the world. For one thing, we've "known" it since before the dude took office his first term, but now his own cult is starting to believe it and demand answers. The same people who have spend the last eight years convinced that he was secretly working behind the scenes to bring down the world's sex trafficking rings because some rando anon posted cryptic messages on 4chan to that effect.

Yeah, totally agreed. If it was just Trump, this is a lot of Republicans way out from under his thumb. If it was just Trump, he could probably get himself off of the list and release it. But if you clean off all the people they need off of the list, the people still on the list are going to start talking.
If his goal was just redacting himself and a few others: then there's literally no reason it hasn't been released yet. Throw a couple of "lesser" rich folk to the base to feed.
But if he does that: he can't use the list the way epstein did; blackmail and extortion. He will ALWAYS take the path that personally enriches him. And all those rich folks, with something to hide... sounds like a great pillar of support for an illegitimate tyrant.

Because he's an idiot who doesn't know when to stop. I do think the fix is already in and the rest is just noise.

Funny thing is I'm not sure if they CAN significantly gerrymander Texas more. The demographic shifts in that state are likely too great to effectively do that before the next census. Might end up shooting themselves in the foot if they try. Either way they are getting closer and closer to loosing at least one Republican senator in Texas and no amount of gerrymandering can stop that. Frankly the constitution should be amended so that congressional districts are defined by a pre-set algorithm that every state must use. One that doesn't take political affiliation in account. Either that or do proportional representation per-state. Tally up all the votes and distribute reps based on the number of people who voted for each party.
I think there's like 4 blue seats still in texas. So they've still got plenty of room with which to deny the will of the electorate and over represent bigots, bastards and hypocrites.
I just saw a meme that was clever, but not QUITE on the nose since it is a CLIENT LIST that reportedly does not exist (in the present day), not files in general. But right now the Republicans may be protecting themselves with the notion that the files are mostly obscene video. Maybe the Democrats could specifically demand release of all non-pictorial materials in the Epstein file. THEN they could ask why the Republicans are blocking the release of something that supposedly doesn't exist.

After a day to consider, I withdraw this recommendation. The Democrats have gotten sucked into a political frenzy and I got sucked in too. The reason the Epstein file didn't get released BEFORE this year is that it wouldn't be a good thing to do. That's not why it hasn't gotten released THIS year. That's for one or more of the reasons that have been discussed here. But we actually do not want our government to be in the business of releasing suggestions that people are guilty of crimes. They should go through the materials and try to build cases and indictments if there is enough evidence, but if there isn't enough evidence to indict someone, I don't really want our government to say, "But we DO think this person probably did this."
So like TACO, this is Trump's opponents complaining about him not doing something that he shouldn't do just because he said he WOULD do something he shouldn't do. That's not really a position I want to stand in.
