We live in a capitalist dystopia

The first problem with that is: thinking three more months ahead is still not long term, or long term enough to make a difference. Not when the attitude is "line must go up, or else". Might reduce the overall stress on some middle managers and CPA's since they're only doing it twice a year instead of four times, but otherwise, nothing is really changed.

The second problem is: trump suggested it, the only reason he wants it is that there's three more months to cook the books, and less time for oversight to actually correct it. The actual problem with american capitalism is that the company is only beholden to shareholders and not their employees, communities or consumers.

And shareholders like quarterly reports because it gives them a chance to feel like their pants are tight.

Ironbite-Trump really isn't a businessman and should probably stick to oppressing minorities.

This is one of those "two things can be true" stories. His reasons for wanting to do this are dubious. How frigging bad are these next quarter results going to be? But it's not a bad idea. The pendulum does need to start swinging back in the direction of long term planning instead of short term gimmicks. Six months still isn't long term, but baby steps are better than nothing.

And as an accountant, hell yes.

Trump’s likely getting little of the deserved blame of what’s to come. I’ve noticed how defensive and denialist people are if you even mention that blanket tariffs are inflationary and stifle aggregate demand.

I don't know, his approval rating on how he's handling the economy is dropping, especially when it comes to inflation and it's been under water for awhile now. It's actually much lower than how he's handling immigration, somehow, despite all the garbage in the news about how ICE is acting. Outside of a few outliers his approval is poor across the board(though NOT as low as it was during Trump 1.0, which saddens me)

Polls genuinely cannot be trusted right now. Between completely undermining the data gathering organizations, and strong arming the media: nothing in mass media is viable as truth.
