Walmart "Transformers Retro" line (G1-based redecos/retools)

My Walmart finally reset and put out Seaspray and Brawn, to my surprise. Picked up a new Seaspray for better packaging than the crushed one I got from their delivery.

However, they are now officially 29.99, so if you preordered they were cheaper. I saw all the 6" stuff kicked up to that price as well.

So my Retro G1 Seaspray arrived today, and he's glorious! Thanks again for the suggestion, @The Mighty Mollusk . I canceled my original preorder (which was still due to arrive by September 25th!). Truly bizarre stuff, their preorders. But Seaspray is great, nonetheless.

I've been trying to avoid re-buying all the minibots as I'm pretty well satisfied with most of the Basic-sized guys from Titans Return And Friends, but the toy-based Retro series has been too powerful to resist on at least a few occasions so far.

Titans Return had some seriously legit Minibots, so I was not going to upgrade, either, but it is hard to resist these Retro figures when I have one in my hands, they look so very cool!

Yep. Walmart just delivered mine today. They look so good in robot mode, and the packaging/artwork makes them sing.

I'm in a weird place with Wheelie. I haven't ordered him or anything, and I wasn't planning to because I have plenty of good Wheelies now, but they really did do a good job capturing the look of the G1 toy. I have distinct memories of having and playing with the original toy as a kid, but I also really didn't like Wheelie back then. Like, I knew that it was a bad toy. I liked the car mode well enough, but the robot mode was awful in just about every way. But it was a Transformer, so he got some playtime, so now it's a really odd nostalgia. And it's complicated by the fact that THIS Wheelie actually DOES have a good robot mode.

Got my Wheelie. Planning on finding Outback in the wild. Seemed appropriate.

Great toy. Good transformation, everything looks good. But that face sculpt. God damn Wheelie is an ugly little plug. I want to like it, but that face is just . . . very G1 accurate and in the absolute worst way.

Found Seaspray and Brawl on clearance. Saw Wheelie, I'll wait for the inevitable show-accurate version and see how that turns out.
