Hey, so this is a thing that stealthily got made over the winter! From Amazon-MGM Studios, Rawson Marshall Thurber (Director of Dodgeball, We're the Millers, and Red Notice) is helming this 80s anime adaption featuring Henry Cavill, along with Daniel Quinn-Toye, Sterling K. Brown, Rita Ora, Alba Baptista, Samson Kayo, John Kim, Tharanya Tharan, Laura Gordon, and Tim Griffin. Filming began last December, and wrapped a few weeks back.

Despite its high profile cast and nostalgic appeal, Amazon is reportedly looking to release Voltron straight to streaming instead of wide theatrical release.

This could be related to competition from Amazon's OTHER 80s revival, Masters of the Universe, which is slated for release June 5, 2026. However, Amazon did garner a good bit of success with the Road House remake, which was released exclusively to streaming to impressive numbers and strong critical response.

Yeah, this is a movie I would go to a theater to see, not gonna pay just for the privilege to stream it. If they release it on physical disc, I'll bite, though.
