Just got back home last night after being in Ireland for a bit over a week. My package of new Wildking figures was waiting for me, but I haven't had a chance to open it yet. Very much looking forward to messing around with them this weekend!

I posted some info, videos and pics about Rexblade here.

Bloody Terrible Combiner Ports.png

I'm getting two more blue limbs (but not Hydrophant as the markup on that is crazy for some odd reason) to give him legs. I'm going to look for two CW fists to "complete" him.

However, Rexblade isn't that great. It's ok as a display piece, but as a child's toy to knock-around with, the combiner limbs are too loose (even more than the dragon one). The shoulder joints are especially challenging to fish-out from the wheels and don't really stay locked into position that well.

I did preorder the Rexblade / Wolf Buddy combo on Amazon Japan, don't know if that qualifies me for the extra sword or not. Honestly, as much as I do enjoy a good sparkly plastic sword, I think the stock blue and gold one looks better.

It's not for pre-orders, but comes with any purchase of Rexblade (from participating retailers) in Japan. I walked into a local Yamada Denki and they had them.

That's fair. I didn't really NEED an extra sword, but I wouldn't have been upset about getting one, either.

Finally got a chance to play with him last night. I do see what you (PrimalxConvoy) were saying about the arms. Since the shoulders are his wheels, they rotate freely other than the 1 spot where they can lock in. You can use the locking panel is other positions as a friction brake to various degrees of success. I do wish a couple more of his joints had ways to lock them in as well, but overall it's a huge leap above the previous torso bots. I'll get some pictures in a bit.

How is the grey internal piece for the arms? It doesn't really 'click' into place, right? The Japanese video recommends we rotate the connector on them a little before trying to attach any combiner parts (or regular arms which have fallen off).

That's what I've discovered works well. The swiveling connector has to be lined up to collapse into the wheel, so when you DON'T want it to collapse, just making sure it's rotated a few degrees prevents it.

He would definitely benefit from some ratchets in the main joints, but overall I think it's a very fun toy.

Another honest and frank review. The video and the comments are surprisingly critical of the regular joints and the combiner ports of Rexblade. For example, the loose crotch joint that makes the figure lean to one side a bit.

Usually, I find that Japanese comments to be softer with their ideas and usually more positive.

I updated my photos of Rexblade (above) with the water-type recolour of Captain Volta (Captain Water now?) and also, here's a video showcasing both him and another recent release.

Teaser for what I'm assuming is the new "bad guy" core robot?

bat-individual.jpg

Link to Tomy's official X announcement. I guess we'll find out more in a month. I'm not sure if that thing on the right is him in some sort of bat mode with wings folded in sneaky-Dracula style? Or maybe he carries a shield to oppose Rexblade's blade. As I'm typing it, I realize that the latter is much more likely.

So now it's Optimus and Rexblade versus Megatron, Nemesis Prime, World Dragnus, and this new guy. Sides seem a little slanted here.
Megatron's reformed in this show. He was only an antagonist in the first season due to mind control.

And Nemesis Prime is World Dragnus, an illusory form the latter took in a failed attempt to trick Optimus into giving up.

recolor Hydrophant is nice, but I'm always glad to see a new type of dinosaur represented. Pachycephalosaurs aren't new to Transformers, but you can also never have too many!
