Transformers Legacy toyline

I've only been to my nearest GameStop a couple times since I moved up here and yet both times the Transformers experience is like:
- A few Studio Series Gamer Edition Figures
- A couple of SS86 Bumblebees
- A random GI Joe x Transformers Collab figure
- Uhh maybe like one or two Legacy things. Last time it was Soundwave with those cassettes and before it was Cybertron Starscream.

Honestly, I only go to that GS because they're in the mall and if I'm already going to the mall to stop at Hot Topic and FYE, I might as well just pop in to see if they have anything.

Honestly for as hit or miss as they can be, they're still sometimes more reliable for product then other retail options are...
Yeah, this was the greater point I was trying to make. They are hit or miss, but when they hit they really hit out of the park.

One of them about a half an hour from me has that Brave Leader TFO Optimus. Gotta admit I was tempted, if only by the shock of seeing it in the wild.
Which GameStop is that? That sounds like something I might want to get a look at in person.

It's the one in the plaza with the Wesley Chapel Target. A bit of a schlep if you're coming from the city but it was there as of a few days ago for around $75

I know the place. It's near where my dad lives.

I get jealous when people mention finding TFs at gamestop. Here in northern CT they seem to cary very few Transformers. They frequently have a ton of Star Wars, Marvel, DC and even GIJoe but generally not TFs. It's rare that I see any and when they do have them it's pretty much always one or two very random things, vs full waves of the other toylines.

-ZacWilliam, at least at the 3 stores I get a chance to visit

Targets in Riverview / Brandon suck. But I have seen the GS getting new product more than Target / Walmart. I’m still on the hunt for 86 Steeljaw.

I'm jealous of those who have Blokees at retail. Just got the Galaxy TF:One box from my parents for christmas and I had a great time putting them together. I really want to get more, but there is no place around me that sells them.

So . . . back to online shopping.

If you can make it into Tampa, hit up Big Redhead's vintage toys and comics. They had a SS '86 Steeljaw for sale last time I was there.

I admit I still have a bit of that "but they don't transform" bias, but Blokees do what RED didn't, and actually look fun. I think that's the trick. Make cartoon model accurate non-transforming robot toy? What's the point? Most of the Generations stuff is cartoon accurate these days anyway, and that stuff does transform.

Blokees, though, goes for that fun kinda chibi look, which makes the novelty of the concept more apparent.

Thing is, with my collection basically eating up all the space I have for it already... Blokees are the sort of thing I'll indulge in if I happen to stumble across some in the wild, but I won't go out of my way to get them online.

I'm not really interested in yet another iteration of the 84 cast, but now they don't transform. But if they give me stuff I can't get otherwise, I might bite. Like they're doing an SG Sideswipe, but if they did like SG Constructicons; those I'd want since I'll be kinda surprised if we ever get offical transforming and combining toys of them. As such I might pick up the TFO Starscream since Hasbro doesn't seem to be in any rush to do those designs.

The only hunting I still do is when someone says something cool is at Ross. I have like 4 Ross's within easy driving distance so I will occasionally go hunting there. The others such as Walmart, Target, and Meijer I'm at enough that I just normally swing by the toy section just to see if there's anything interesting. However, in this day and age, I buy about 95% of my Transformers online.

Sadly for me, Ross doesn't exist up here in New England, and I'm not driving all the way to Jersey for it. The discount chains that do exist up here (Ollie's, Burlington, TJ Maxx) are less consistent about getting cool stuff, at least the ones near me.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

I remember, years ago, that a winners (TJmaxx, but for canada.) up here had about 80% of the deluxes from the prime toyline. I spent about 200 bucks and walked out with about 15 figures.

Oh man, memories. Will never see the like again.

Posting this as something of a PSA:
If you have not ordered/preordered any figures from waves 4 and 5 of United, I'd recommend doing so.

Looking at Entertainment Earth, Legacy has been marketed as a "single line" since launch (with Evolution and United being "branding refreshes", akin to Powerlinx Battles or Battle for the Spark or similar mid-line refreshes from the old days). Age of the Primes will mark a "reset" of the Generations segment with the first waves being "wave 1" of however long Age of the Primes goes on for. Going by my local Walmart, they seem to be planning to "clearance" the existing Generations segment within the coming weeks.
Thus far, wave 4 seems to have had spotty distribution with wave 5 largely MIA at US mass retail outside of online and specialty venues (like Gamestop).

If there are any late figures you are still wanting, I'd recommend sucking it up and putting in an order. Some MIGHT end up closeout fodder, but that is never a guarantee.

The last Walmart I went to had TF One items on clearance, but not for Legacy, Studio Series, or EarthSpark.
