So, I watched an in-hand video on YT with the new deluxe G1 Optimus. I'm just perplexed why they made him a deluxe and not voyager. It's obvious there were a bunch of compromises, why not make him a voyager? The only thing I can think of is they're planning a leader class set for him with the trailer (and roller I assume) at some point, and they want the mold to be resistant to cost inflation for a few years.
I'm sure we'll be getting a pack like that, but I think they also tend to like having some of the "big names" in multiple price point options. A kid who really wants an Optimus Prime might not be able to talk his parents into a $50+ Leader (much less the Commander), but a Deluxe may be on the table.
Could be a budget thing. TT gave their "modern take on the G1 toy" the premium treatment.
Hasbro, though, has different priorities and higher ups may not have been super enthusiastic about budgeting Voyager money for a 40+ year old toy with joints.
They made him a Deluxe so that he would scale better with the undersized Earthrise trailer.
I skipped Armada Megatron to wait for the Galvatron redeco (the only time so far this has paid off... hopefully, MW Starscream/Euro G1 Skyquake, RID Cryotek, and Universe Razorclaw are due at SOME point), but I'm not totlly sold on it. I wish there were a version of it that was more toy colored than cartoon colored. I underestimated how attached was to that more pastel pink. The darker purple just seems... bland.
That was the original point of price points like Legends and Core: Offer major characters at affordable prices. The first two waves of Legends (composed of Optimus, Bumblebee, Megatron and Starscream) basically shipped for a YEAR before Hasbro started introducing other characters. And I still view the Core Class mains in Kingdom to be a highlight of the year.

Toyhax's latest update has an out-of-left-field set I had never thought of, but now find myself pretty strongly considering. They've made a set of stickers to turn Cyberverse Tarn from the Multipack into Stalker:
I don't really need two Tarns, so this is pretty tempting. The only thing that keeps me from jumping on it is that I've been hoping for a repaint/remold of Doubledealer. Hasbro has been putting out all the molds that they need to do a proper group of Predators (or even a whole European Market late-G1 subline!) and it really does feel like something the current design team would do.

It's nice, and the mold is good-looking enough to wear any colors well. But if we're getting anything retooled into Stalker, I agree Doubledealer has to be it.

It doesn't look bad in its own way but it's not a great Stalker. I barely know the late G1 dudes and even I know that.
It's far from the ideal Stalker, but as something to do with my extra Tarn, I'm tempted. In fact, maybe the fact that he's so far from being a 1:1 Stalker would let it just be a new Predator character should Hasbro ever do a real one.

No, I do actually kind of like the crazy mish-mash of things that this is. Gobots Soundwave mixed with Machine Wars Soundwave with hints of Prime Soundwave. Makes me kind of want an amalgam line, kind of like the concept of Legacy, but instead of characters being imported into a G1-adjacent universe and style, every version of a particular character is mixed into a single gestalt being.
This mold is like the new T30 Springer.
