On the plus side, given the size of deluxe Optimus, if you're a fan of core class figures it won't be too long before all deluxes are that size.
Fans mad about the latest perfectly fine Deluxe have been promising me this for something like 15 years and still nothing.

I bet there will be a a KO if either missing link OP or an OSKO of Legacy G1 toy OP with random metal parts. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if both were MP sized with OSKO trailers too.

Maybe for Generations Selects, assuming that's still a thing.
The “G1 Crew” set and the Gobots 3 pack are marketed under Generations Selects.
I just kind of get the feeling that Selects got a bit backburnered by the sheer volume of retails slots Hasbro’s been trying to fill, between stuff like the Walmart and Amazon capsule lines and Target’s Buzzworthy stuff. As well as some budgetary contractions reducing the amount of product the teams seems be allowed to produce (Deluxe waves are now seeing only 3 new releases per wave, Core Class through Legacy went from 8 items in Year one, to 12 in year 2, down to 6 this year and seemingly ending with next year’s line)

No matter what they call it, there's always going to be some place to shove in the random 'for the turbo nerds' releases they do.

New SDCC set revealed, being promoted under the United banner- Fractured Friendship: Gladiator Megatron vs Security Officer Orion Pax

Gladiator Megatron is a retool/repaint Miner Megatron (itself derived from the old Siege Megatron). I dig the war paint and the dark helmet always looks sexy. I'm also digging the extra weapons, as a warhammer isn't a common weapon and the sword is very evocative of the Armada era Starsaber (at least the stylized interpretation). I don't NEED another Megatron, but the new painted details and weapons really speak to my imagination.

Security Officer Orion Pax is...well, frankly, he's Stormbringer Optimus Prime. Aside from some colors and leg details, this is as close to Stormbringer as they could probably get while working with the WFC Gamer mold as they could. I think the figure wears these details better than the WFC version, and it looks like the big complaint with the arms got addressed. I also like how it seems like Hasbro was "planning" for this release by incorporating a lot of the key design traits into the prior "Humble Origins" Orion Pax. That's a level of design continuity that's quite rare and I think DOES add to the value of that prior figure. It's not common that you have an Orion Pax and Optimus Prime that actually share THAT degree of commonality (prior to TF One, anyway).

Like this set, I'll probably be getting it.

Also, be sure to check your local stores, 'tis Clearance season! A nearby Walmart had leaders (both Studio and Generations) marked down to $41 and $44, while I managed to find a Toxitron Series Grimlock still sporting a full price sticker. But the app said it was $38 and it ended up ringing up for just $27

Megatron's hammer looks like a wad of gum on a stick. Megatron himself is okay, a bit of a downgrade compared to the previous miner release but not bad. Orion Pax is pretty cool retool and the best shot the IDW pre-Earth design's getting officially but I'm just tired of Optimus in general.
