Okay. With as bad as Volcanicus turned out, I can't believe how much I like this. I expected feet but I didn't expect new forearms as well. They really help.

This looks so much better than Volcanicus it's unreal

Just breaking up the color scheme helps it a lot. The extra parts are nice too.

Still holding out a shred of hope for a Monstructor, but I might go for this, assuming it doesn't immediately sell out while I'm at work or something.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

They shoulda done volcanicus like this. I get why they didn't, but it needs to be done. Would have saved a lot of people a lot of problems.

He looks great for a core class combiner but $80 is Commander class money and none of the three modes are commander quality. The characters are also basically cannonfodder so I’m not exactly enthused to shell out that much.

He looks a lot better than I really expected him to. The new hands and feet help a lot, but there's more to it than that. It just really works surprisingly well.

Despite that, I still have little interest in buying him. CW Liokaiser isn't exactly great, but at least he looks decent alongside HasLab Deathsaurus. Putting this Dinoking alongside them would be very underwhelming.

I admit though, if I hadn't already bought the Fansproject Dinoking, I'd probably be more tempted to buy him despite his shortcomings. I'm still a little tempted just to show support for getting obscure characters like this. But at a time when I'm trying to reduce the size of my collection, I think I'll be passing.

To me, it's six $12 dollar figures ($72), plus some accessories. You might find Cores overpriced already, but that's another conversation.
There's also the exclusive/limited factor. In the Old Days, Botcon (for example) exclusives were generally 2-3x the cost of the original molds.

I don't know how limited Dinoking will
be, but almost certainly not mass retail numbers.

(IIRC the last non-convention exclusive we actually got numbers for was Primal Prime? And we had no reference as to what mass retail or store exclusive numbers were back then.)

Core class is okay value for money, just not the Dinobot molds. They’re not great in any of their modes and having most of that carry over to dinoking isn’t appealing.

I love this, but Slag is just staring everyone down from Dinoking's chest. I just wish the dinosaur heads had been remolded. Grimlock's noggin is so iconic, it stands out too.

BUT!!! Still getting them. I let Volcanicus fly right by me for this very reason. Long live Dinoking. Maybe that's a reason to embrace a little Grimlock in here.

I mostly just wish Slag's dinohead had been remolded to have the triple rhino horn look. It would further help it look different from Volcanicus.

Also strange that Gairyu is Green and Black rather then Green and White.

Overall, I am happy for this set, and consider $80 a good price for it.

Ooough, if the timing is nice, I might jump on Dinoking.

If they can plus up Springer, they can plus up Megatron with a new head, hands and a LOT of effects pieces!
Oh, absolutely. Just poking a little fun at how many times it's been around the bend is all.

I'm pretty sure the Dinoforce decos are anime-based rather than toy-based and he was green and black in the anime IIRC.

$80 struck me as a bit high at first too, but I think the extra accessories/parts, as well as the exclusiveness, make the price make sense. And that axe, that glorious axe.

Thanks! I've posted the same info below for those who can't/visit other sites.

Release Date: September 2024
Retail Price: $79.99 USD

Transformers Legacy United: Dinobot Dinoking Multipack features six Dinobot figures from the Takara Japan Transformers Victory series, including Yokuryu, Rairyu, Goryu, Doryu, Gairyu, and Kakuryu. The can individually transform and also combine together to form the mighty Dinoking. The set includes a scythe, sword, mace, axe, and blaster accessories, along with Combiner accessories like a combiner head, four blasters, two rocket launchers, and tail connector.

"Dinobot"...

Anyway, I still just want my ankylosaurus Transformer, but as good as this looks, this probably ain't the way I'm getting him...
