Ok, I haven't been interested in this so far as I have no attachment to He-Man, but damn that Star-Scare-Scream-Go looks good.

I propose "Star-Glow Scare-Scream."

It sounds kinda like a My Little Pony, but at least it sounds like a really badass space horror one.

aaron 'Theft of IP like this is staggering, develop your own characters and designs!' archer being involved in a failed attempt at doing not-pretenders is still the funniest jive lmao
Entirely possible those weren't his real feelings, just what he felt he had to say in order to ensure job security.

Can't imagine "Oh man, have you seen what some of these guys have been doing? It's insane! I wish our budgets allowed us to do stuff like that!" would please the higher-ups, y'know?

Or he flip-flopped, who knows?

Either way, it ends up being a very specific look that is not good. I think this is a big part of why they just avoid commenting on the stuff directly. Designers, artists, etc working with the official IP owner clearly follow and even buy some of it, or at least don't care enough to distinguish (it's silly how many times official art has used 3P stuff as a reference/basis). Which is fine. But it'd be unwise to be on record about it because either the company will look dumb it they will (and when they make the company look dumb they don't exactly look smart either). Especially in this era of The Internet Has The Receipts, which has made it tricky and anxiety-inducing at times to function in general.

I do remember my own knee-jerk reaction of disappointment in Archer for showing up with this group (and I think it was earlier, around the first Kickstarter; BMOG was roped in to leech off its popularity around the bajillion stretch goals phase I think). But over time it was less "you flip-flopped" and more "you were willing to look dumb for THIS?".

Anyway, more on track: that Scarescream is the best pairing of the 4 we've seen so far. I'm not sure I like the execution, as it feels too basic Hero Mashers rather than adapting one into armor.

I think an Ironhide armor one would be great. Add in the yellow from the vehicle mode stripe as an accent to break things up here and there. Can turn some of his alternate hand weapons/tools into handheld weapons. And it's a pretty good helmet too.

unluckiness

Somehow still sane

Orko should be Bumblebee. His ears even look like Bumblebee’s horns.

It’ll never happen due to the short-lived nature of these collabs but there needs to be at least concept art of Quintesson Man-E-Faces. Or Blitzwing if you want to go less strictly G1.

Thinking about the limited MOTU knowledge I have makes me realize why I never got into this despite watching more of it than Transformers as a child. God, it’s like everyone’s competing in a bad pun contest.

A yellow Bumblebee helmet that has Orko's hat's wide brim (in the original color) would be hilarious. The scarf thing covering Orko's face below the eyes could be modeled after Bumblebee's faceplate.

Iron Hide, Kup or Wheeljack would all have been better matches for Man-At-Arms. The first two are older characters who are Security Chiefs like Duncan. Or Wheeljack is an Inventor like Duncan.

I assume they went "This is going to be smaller than the other crossover lines (judging by only two figures in the first wave) let's make sure we hit the biggest characters. Op and He-Man/Megatron-Skellator obviously happens, so who's the number 2 Hero of each franchise?" And that's how we got the otherwise weird match BB and Duncan.

Now for BB I would have myself gone Mekaneck - because they're both young guys who are Scouts - or Buzz-Off because that's a REALLY obvious combo that could also be a lot of fun.

For Orco I'd go Wheelie. They're both smaller mascots and both have a reputation for being annoying to some fans. But then they havnt done Orko-Snarf in the Thundercats line and thats magic so...

-ZacWilliam, still can't get over The Power of Greyskull being Energon. That really makes me want a transforming Castle Greyskull that is absolutely not happening.

I wonder if they'll do an anti-Eternia He-Man in SS Optimus Prime armour?

The fact that they used friggin' SCAREGLOW and not any of the main Evil Warriors makes Bumblebee Armor look worse. They can dig deep-ish for one IP but not the other?

(Scareglow is awesome, but that's not my point.)

in this rant I will

Same as I said earlier, I've never cared one way or the other for He-Man, but a Greyskull / Fort Max? Sign me the frick up!

I actually feel like Adam would make a better Bumblebee, given that he's the closest MotU has to a central kid-identification character. Or maybe Adam as Hot Rod (with He-Man being his Rodimus upgrade).

Optimus is the heroic ideal that the young, untested hero is trying to live up to. Maybe King Randor, or maybe a flashback of King Greyskull.

. . . Or if you wanna really start an internet war, maybe Sorceress Prime.
