I dunno. Hasbro seems pretty content with not updating a number of Titans Return figures, including those who weren't originally Headmasters, like the Jumpstarters and the Decepticon Targetmasters, both of which have had their TR molds reused in recent Amazon capsule lines with their Headmaster gimmicks left intact.
I'd be fine with just straight reissues of the TR figures. They're still really good toys.

Pretty sure the Minicon isn't offical either?
Yeah, it's a custom SG Haywire made from Armada Blurr's minicon partner Incinerator with the wheels and spoiler removed, and the gun barrel from Universe Nightstick grafted on the front, and then all the non-gray bits painted black.
I'm not really that concerned with official fiction, I like what I like, and repurpose the rest.

Technically, that was a Legends release and packed with Doublecross, and officially White Lune, so I'm not sure if I can count it? 🤷
While the pack-in manga does what it wants with the toys, the toy bios themselves reflect the classic/traditional versions of the characters (for instance, the toy bios for Optimus Primal and Rattrap describe them as the Beast Wars characters proper instead of the office workers that they were in the manga).

The Titans Return figures hold up. I'm not surprised about the lack of updates, although I'd love to see what can be done with the current design style.

The main thing I want is a Mindwipe whose wings/legs aren't doomed to eat themselves or stick to other stuff or both. Also, Weirdwolf got the hinge problem on his back panel retooled out for Carnivac; I'd like a working Weirdwolf that avoids the same. I haven't heard much about whether the Retro version avoids the problem the TR/LG one has, but I don't hear much about those in general.

I always wind up leaving the mouths of the headmaster crocs open. Otherwise they stick shut, same issue as the back flaps. The TR 'big-3' Decepticon Headmaster molds were cursed...

As far as accessory-bots, I've always found it easier to ignore fiction/packaging/etc and just do whatever you want for your personal setup. That's why my Encore Cerebros shares a pretender shell with Megatron and Spacewarp. If anyone needs a good explanation, "Rent Control".

I should check on mine.

Hasbro, just stop using rubber. I don't care if you think you've found the right formula this time. Just don't even chance it.

Hasbro: "Tell you what. To make up for Mindwipe's rubbery wings, we'll do a brand new run of the figure with all of the soft, rubbery plastic swapped out and replaced with rigid, translucent plastic. Won't that be a nice trade-off? 😁"

Somehow still sane

I don't even know why Mindwipe needed the soft plastic. Just tone down the ears and scalloped wing edges and hard plastic would do. Same with the Skullcruncher mold, with no really egregiously pointy parts on it.

To be fair, if you have to go that far back to point out an example, that suggests things have improved since (especially with the Insecticons as a point of comparison).
They were an example just because someone had mentioned them recently, and thus they were on my mind, and I didn't want to bother with thinking of others. I could have named any of the recent combiners (perhaps without getting into the design philosophy bit, true, but definitely as regards informed decision-making. By the time I decide I want a combiner, one or more of the members is already likely to be unattainable. Yes, you're right that it's better than it was a few years ago, but it's STILL terrible IMHO. And don't get me started on the G2 Stunticons...).
It hasn't been uniformly effectively done in all instances, and given the sizes/lengths of lines shrinking it's taken a fair amount of time to find extra spots to get things out in (multipacks, capsules, multipacks in capsules).
Oh, I REALLY hate how they do multipacks these days, often inserting ONE must-buy character into a pack with three others I don't even want!

I do relate with both those concerns, more the former than the latter (I've had somewhat good luck with the multipacks in that the contents range from "must have" to "not bad"). Idk about "these days", as that seems to be a tale as old as time with multipacks, at least more often the case than not.

I've been suffering through the same issue backtracking to complete a combiner, and oof that is not easy. But even given that, it's not really on Hasbro to make things easy for when I belatedly make the decision to go after them.

I've had pretty good luck getting the one thing I want from a multipack, but I do tend to want a thing no one else does.

Same. I've been lucky so far where the multipacks (especially the 4-packs) are generally cases of me liking the "we saddled even the expectedly popular thing with these" parts, even to the point of just wanting the entire pack.

But not everyone is like that, nor should they be. For one thing, it's pretty annoyingly pricey, and for another, these packs tend to have additional "we're exclusive to __" complications.

I'm nervous about the upcoming -storm Seeker 4-pack for precisely that reason.

Great, one more thing to check on.

Seriously, Hasbro, just stop. I'm sure things like Kingdom Megs/T-Wrecks are also still ticking time bombs and whatnot. But things are better now; you've remade the jets without bendy tailfins (CW vs. AOTP), and an entire Big Convoy without succumbing to the temptation to make a bendy trunk. Just stop trying to be cute and "oh, let's do rubber tires, that's a nice touch, eh" or "nah we can totally make all the fine, pointy bits, just use this instead of redesigning them out". Let it go, Indiana. It will always betray you.

If they want people to buy them all, then they do themselves a disservice by disincentivising it. Does it "disincentivize" worse to have them all at once vs. the piecemeal way it's done now? I guess that's a reasonable place for differing opinions. I certainly can't cite any studies (presumably Hasbro DOES base at least some of their decisions on data, although it's sometimes hard to figure out how).
