Neat! Maybe that is why I thought of that name for them, that it was somewhere deep in my mind that I saw that a decade ago.
IIRC, the Fall of Cybertron combiner was the seed of the theory I alluded to. I had forgotten there was anything official that supported it. (IMO it works pretty well separately, though RiD is such an oddball series that it's nice to have some corroboration.)
I am liking that Onyx Prime gets a repaint as I never saw the original in stores.
I keep telling myself that Leaders are too expensive now for recolors, and I already have Dreadwing, but damn that Starscream is tempting.
I don't know if I want to go down that modernized Machine Wars rabbit hole, as I don't really have space for it. Especially after I have got the modernized Armada and Beast Wars figures to go with my modernized G1 obsession.

The Onyx Prime repaint looks WAY better than the original, I might get that figure, as for the Dreadwing repaint, I'll pass, of the other reveals, Wheelie, I'll likely get, I might get movie Ironhide, TF One Shockwave looks good, I'll definitely get him, Last Knight Megatron, I need more pictures of the robot mode before deciding to get him or not, but then I've not gotten any live action movie Megatron since the Last Knight leader as they never really pushed any buttons for me and the character was pretty forgeable in the movies and he really fell off after the first film, suddenly becoming a servant to the Fallen and then Sentinel Prime, I can't recall what he was doing in the Last Knight
