Trump is really stumbling through this announcement. He is perking up a bit when he goes off script, so he's not just sleepy. This announcement was supposed to be about something else that suddenly isn't happening or they cannot talk about, so they handed him a paper he's never seen before in his life and are trying to bluff their way through it.

Some reporter just agreed with me. It seems like this was going to be about something else.

One good thing to come out of this.

If they get serious about stock buy backs it could help things.

The Trump Organization is private, and his business days are done anyway. It's no skin off his nose if he does something about stock buybacks.

Trump can barely commit to doing the things he actually wants to do most of the time, though, and this sounds like just a talking point to give the public something to gush over and then hopefully forget about.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Yeah, trump isn't going to push his corpo donors any further. It's a talking point and nothing more.

The Kennedy Center Honors got their lowest ever ratings after it turned out no one wanted to tune in to watch a senile pedophile ramble about how unfair everyone is being to him.

FB friend:
So let me get this straight: Venezuela is a "cartel and a narco-terror organization" according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio. But all refugee claimants from Venezuela are also liars and must be deported? How can those two things be true at the same time?

If Venezuela is truly a "cartel and narco-terror organization", then it seems like many of the Venezuelan refugees must have legitimate claims. If, on the other hand, all of their claims are categorically bogus, then the State Department is implying that Venezuela is actually a safe and stable country.
Remember when Ammon Bundy's gang of armed thugs took over a federal building, occupied it for an extended period, severely vandalized it, and then got off scot free and every conservative said that it would have been "government overreach" to give them any more punishment than the ... (checks notes) absolute nothing that they received?

Just keep that in mind when (as seems inevitable at this point) Trump uses the Insurrection Act to deploy the military against protesters and every conservative cheers him on.
When you have cancer, you take poison. Literal poison. That's what chemotherapy is. The poison is bad for you, but it's worse for the cancer. You do this until you think the cancer has been killed off, even if it makes you feel horrible.

Now ask yourself again why white Trump supporters keep voting for policies that hurt them, and the answer just might become clear to you. In their minds, you are the cancer, and they are willing to take the poison in the hope that it will hurt you worse than it hurts them.

I don't think it's that black and white. Expecting the populate make sacrifices for what one perceives to be the greater good isn't inherently bad just because bad people are currently doing it. "I can offer nothing but blood, toil, tears and sweat" sound like the words of a fascist out of context, but we know they weren't, at the time. Conversely, Trump has done a lot to appeal to people's demands for instant gratification, even if his policies have been the opposite of gratifying to anyone. Given what they're willing to put up with, I suspect it's more like sunk cost fallacy.

It started as "suffering more" and ends with "sunk cost".

And all because they're too ******* stupid to understand when they're being abused, exploited and oppressed. Because they WANT a rich, stupid, white mans boot on their neck.

The level of cognitive dissonance in her statement is disgustingly impressive. Excuse me while I choke down the bile in the back of my throat.

It's only dissonant if you consider other people as humans. People like that don't care about anyone outside of their immediate circle.

Yep, just more evidence that the election was nothing but a referendum on "wokeness." Inflation was just their excuse.

A lot of people have. I think a quote from Deltarune sums up the self-proclaimed never-Trumpers pretty well: "I, Mr. Society, am far too intelligent to ever bow down to such a tyrant! Unless he asks me. He's very scary, you see." I mean, sure, some do still exist. Whoever's running that X account, for example. Anonymously, I'm sure. But I can't think of a single individual who was part of the Noble Opposition back in the day who's still holding the line.
