Also, the White House claimed that Trump supporters who died outside the Capitol of natural causes – a heart attack and a stroke – were “killed” that day.
Are those the same people we were also claiming were killed (accidentally, by other protesters)?

Interesting start to the morning:
- Apparently Trump declared himself the "Acting President of Venezuela" in a Truth.Social post - I've seen it linked but don't have the link handy
- Since Powell won't do what he want Trump has the DoJ doing a criminal investigation into Powell over a $2.5bil renovation to the Financial Reserve headquarters

Also just heard this from the 10th: After Bernie prodded Trump about not following through on a campaign promise to limit credit card interest rates, he suddenly posted he's capping credit card interest to 10% for one year, though it's not necessarily something he has the authority to do of course.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

And the wording on the credit card thing was such that he has no intention of passing legislation: he was just going to tell them to do it.

"Hey credit card companies, I'm ordering you, wink, to cap your interest rates at ten percent, wink, for a year, wink wink."

"Mr. President, you're not supposed to say 'wink' when you do that. You just wink."

"Well I haven't been able to wink ever since I didn't have that stroke last year, wink."

I see he noticed that Florida Power & Light hiked our rates again.

FB friend:
Trump supporters call for liberals to be killed every goddamned day, but nobody on the left would dare publicly call for vigilantes to kill the scumbag murderer Jonathan Ross, because whoever did that would probably have his life completely destroyed as a result.

Political violence has been normalized, but only when it comes from the right. From the left, we literally get demonized for not being sad enough when someone on the right is killed.
Don't pretend you haven't always known people like these bloodthirsty Trumpers. Remember those guys who used to watch the American attack on the village in "Apocalypse Now" and think it's the coolest, most badass thing ever? You know, with the helicopters and the rockets and the explosions and the Wagner music? Even though the scene literally begins by showing you how the village is full of children?

And then towards the end of the scene, remember how one of the women throws a bomb into the helicopter after it lands? There are certain viewers who will think this means she's a "fanatic", and it never occurred to them how even a reasonable person might do that AFTER SEEING A CLASS OF CHILDREN INCINERATED.
If the shooting of Renee Good was "completely justified" as Trump supporters say even though no officer was actually at realistic risk of death or even serious injury, then it would have been completely justified to fire an M2 Browning into the mob on January 6, 2021.

But of course, Trump supporters would never admit that. These are the same people who thought it was "murder" to shoot a woman who was literally breaking through a door that people were hiding behind. If a Trump supporter were hiding behind a door and a mob screaming that they want to kill him were breaking down that door, he would absolutely think lethal force is justified.

Never expect these people to hold a single consistent opinion about anything. All principles, statements, and opinions are fluid and subject to change depending on whose side they're on at any given time.

I would have stopped after "pedophile." Actually I probably would have used a more blunt synonym for it as well.

There is no constitutional method to cancel elections and, for the most part, elections are handled by the individual states. If the red states go along with it, they won't have any house members in 2027

They are literally doing whatever they want right now and getting away with it. Do you honestly think that come November they will give one jive about the Constitutionality of whatever they do? They certainly don't care now and I don't see that changing. They have the DOJ and the Supreme Court in their back pockets and the legislature might as well not come in to work for how effective they are - so who's going to stop them?

You're becoming worse than Paladin with this doom and gloom, and if I were off staff and allowed to, I'd totally block you.

The question is no longer whether they're crazy enough to try, because we've passed the threshold where the answer will from now on always be yes. The question is now whether somebody is going to step up and do something to stop them in time. And the only person who can answer that question is whoever, if anyone, ultimately does.

I mean, there will almost certainly be elections; those are, as I understand, state-level things that the Heritage Foundation can't tamper with.

The results of those elections, OTOH, will absolutely be called into question and/or disregarded.

Oh, yeah, no question of that. But I think the level at which democrats are being over represented in recent elections will be one of those "too big to rig" moments.
