The key issue coming up next in the immigration fight is the judge has not identified a "bad actor" yet. You can't hold "an administration" in criminal contempt -- you have to identify a person whose actions are responsible for the contempt. And this administration thrives on avoiding accountability. Who is ultimately responsible for refusing to facilitate the man's return...POTUS, Secretary of Homeland Security, the Director of ICE? Have ICE or DHS received an official directive from the White House NOT to facilitate, or are they going off of "vibes" and implicit expectations?

The fact that Trump's administration is a clown show without a clear chain of command or communication will become a defense if the judge proceeds with his order of contempt. No one in the Executive Branch actually knows or cares who is officially responsible for fulfilling the judge's order, and they won't be falling over each other to find out.

I do wonder how soon we will get to open violence on anyone in ICE. Like, the van rolls up and the people decide they're done and open fire.
Right now they're taking the people too scared to fight back. That isn't going to last very long.
What about the people watching this new Gestapo and deciding to step in when they're taking children, families? Whose going to be the first to catch that bullet?

FB friend:
Republicans will never turn on the Trump administration over its casual shredding of the Constitution as long as these human rights abuses are not inflicted on white people. That's the unspoken bright-line rule, and everyone knows it.
If you can't punish your leaders for breaking the law, then there is no law. There is only obedience to authority.
Liberals and conservatives are both "social justice warriors". They just have different ideas of what social justice is. Right now, a liberal SJW is ranting about people being tortured in El Salvador, while a conservative SJW is ranting about transgender female athletes having an unfair advantage in high school girls' sports.
It's funny how all the Trump supporters who dismissed his fascist leanings and said "get back to me when he starts rounding up undesirables and putting them in concentration camps" during his first term are saying absolutely nothing now.
Let's be honest: apart from John McCain, Republicans have NEVER liked the fact that the Constitution prohibits "cruel and unusual punishment", and that's why they're loving this new El Salvadoran end-run around the Constitution. In a nutshell, they think the Constitution is wrong. They've always thought it was wrong. And now they're pretty happy that they found a workaround to defeat it.

Oh, it's not "white people". It's "me, personally and specifically" that will be the point they might actually turn on him. Of course, by then, it'll be far too late.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree. It's VERY easy for me to imagine that they'll go after whites, as well, and contrive an explanation that simply paints them as "extreme liberal" (the truth will not matter here, let's be clear), thus rendering the victim's plight as unworthy of their notice.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Absolutely. It started from a place of white nationalism: but now it's just a vehicle (or will be shortly.) to remove "undesirables" whomever those might be.

If nothing else, they've got an ironclad civil suit against ICE for constitutional violations, and maybe against Florida for racial profiling.

Everyone in El Salvador has an ironclad Constitutional case. What does it matter if you're not able to press it in court? What's it matter if your lawyers prevail, but you're still stuck in a Concentration Camp?
What do we do with a lawless administration who has weaponized a federal policing force to act as their personal Secret Police?

Seriously, this is what so many 2nd Amendment advocates have been dreaming about. Government agents coming for them, not knowing they're armed with their personal AR-15 that they named "Vera". We are going to have a bloodbath sooner rather than later.

The problem is that most of those 2nd Amendment lovers are MAGAts now. They're perfectly fine watching [insert racist term here] being disappeared. Or them filthy liberals. Or whoever else Glorious Leader says.
