FWIW, I did catch the Botswana joke... I just figured that was the joke.

As AotP winds down, we now have a full line-up of Primus's Thirteen. We also have a Herald of Unicron coming, and supposedly the Age of Evolution "New Prime" is a matching avatar of Primus. I'm still hoping for a HasLab Primus eventually, and I'd love to set up a full battle between Primus, Unicron, and their Primes/Heralds.

Which then has me thinking, who should be Unicron's heralds for such a scene? He has plenty of options to pick from across the multiverse, which is something he's been able to do since Marvel G1. I've put together my list, roughly in order of easiest selection to most uncertain. It certainly doesn't have to exactly 13, but I like the idea of having them be equal and opposite.

  1. Galvatron - Obviously.
  2. Nemesis Prime - Between Armada, Grand Scourge, Universe, and WfC, he's a common choice. I also like the idea of Unicron corrupting versions of both Megatron and Optimus.
  3. Sideways - Definitely had a big and memorable role as Unicron's herald in Armada, so easy choice.
  4. Scourge (RotB) - RotB itself was just ok, but Scourge filled the role of Unicron's powerful and intimidating servant well enough.
  5. Razorclaw - Know that he is an obvious choice as the leader of Unicron's generals in the Universe war.
  6. Thunderwing - Primarily the Prime version here, but having a G1 version in Worlds Collide reinforces his belonging here.
  7. Cyclonus - Once you get past the primary heralds for each universe above, it gets a lot less clear cut. Cyclonus and Scourge being the original fellow servants and going hand in hand with Galvatron make them easy picks though.
  8. Scourge (G1) - See above.
  9. Bludgeon - I'm primarily picking him based on his role in IDW's Unicron event, even though that Unicron doesn't appear to be sentient and didn't pick Bludgeon like he typically picks his heralds. He still seems like a nice fit though, and he was also in Worlds Collide, so he works for me.
  10. Ramjet (Universe) - Getting a bit more obscure here, but he was featured quite a bit in the club stuff.
  11. Battletrap (RotB) - Had a decent role in the movie, I've got a figure of him, and no one else jumps out at me as obviously better.
  12. Nightbird (RotB) - Same as Battletrap.
  13. Latolata - I felt like the Blentrons should have some representation on here, though I've never gotten around to watching BWN and so don't know a ton about them. He seems to be a bit more prominent than the other two from what I can tell. Injector definitely costs more these days than you'd expect given his infamous peg warmer status, but he's still more affordable than the others if I decide to pick one up.

I'm curious who others would include for such a lineup.

I like a lot of these, but I'd skip Cyclonus and the ROTB goons as they could just be their leaders' plus ones (etc)

1. Galvatron
2. Nemesis Prime (toss a coin for truck or mammoth)
3. Elphaorpha, the coolest of the Blentrons.
4. Razorclaw (Universe) or Ramjet (Universe); rather keep just one.
5. Sideways (toss a coin for Armada or Cybertron; I'm leaning toward Armada)
6. Dead End/Bug? Kinda want him to have a Mini-Con on here, since he did leverage them to create chaos.
7. Shokaract. I think?
8. Maybe Scourge (ROTB), but he's a bit too close to the Nemesis Prime archetype. I do like the notion of an early victim becoming a willing herald.

I actually would kind of rather keep it to these and just have some fiction that creates new heralds or repurposes some characters into heralds in a bigger and better way than we've seen.

Or, idk. I'm a bit more interested in Unicron just empowering someone (and giving them mooks) as needed, than in him having a set squad of his own. Primus' Thirteen was created as a group, and Unicron just goes about creating -- and then discarding -- one figure at a time. It might be funny to see all of the ones he's made in a lineup, but I can't imagine them really coexisting.

More I think about it, Unicron doesn't seem like the type to assemble teams long-term. He probably makes use of minions to get the job done and then they get consumed or they die trying.
'Tis exactly what happened to the Blentrons.

Wouldn't THE FALLEN be an obvious inclusion?
He's certainly a valid choice. However, I'd point out that Megatronus aligning with Unicron is pretty much confined to just the Dreamwave continuity. Even though AotP Megatronus is the Dreamwave design, I'm happy to leave that universe and most everything related to it in the past. Outside that, Megatronus always has a falling out with the others, but is consistently on their side against Unicron. I'm keeping him on Primus's team.

I bought an original Wheeljack yesterday from my comic book store and the years stamped on it are 1980 and 1982. Does that mean that is actually a Diaclone release?

If it doesn't have Autobot stickers, has a Diaclone driver, or has more powerful springs in the launchers, it might be Diaclone.
If it has Autobot stickers and weakened springs, it's Transformers.

(If it's missing the launchers and half of the stickers, it's hard to tell.)
Looking it over again I just noticed it has no rub sign.
