I've seen it without the arm doors and it looks weird. I'd slim them down but they have to be there.
I think basically the set of people who want them and the set of people who already have them are close to being the same set of people.Classics Bumblebee (and Cliffjumper) and Classics Optimus Prime are two molds that seem to still be pretty popular.
Why haven't these been re-released, or, what things would factor in if re-releasing them was a possibility? (I used so many words to ask that question . . . ) The molds may be gone by this point, but G1 and Beast Wars figures have been re-released, so it doesn't seem like an impossible thing.
I don't know how these decisions come together from the manufacturing and marketing sides. I know they'd be "yet another G1-ish ________," depending on which classics molds they released. Are the size of the figures or the number of parts a factor?
They're certainly part of the design but I think there are better ways to integrate them if the design is being revisited. Either find a way to compress them so they fold in closer to the arms or even make them modular and removable so they can form a melee weapon or shield or something.I've seen it without the arm doors and it looks weird.
