I'll give you a taste of the world I've been living in. My dad left behind the number of a storage unit, in which he allegedly kept some important documents. Supposedly he'd been working on a will (spoilers: he wasn't) and if he was, it would be there.

He did not write down (as far as I could find) the address, or even the name of the company. All I had to work with was the number of the unit. So I had to check every storage place in the city until I found the one.

I did eventually find it (through bank records, once I got access to those), though I couldn't find the key, so management had to get somebody to cut the lock open. Then as soon as I had access to the place I got hit with "By the way, unless you want to pay $500 for another month's rent, get out." So I spent an all-nighter clearing the place out. Not the most comforting place to be at night. This resulted in my house being full of boxes I couldn't get rid of until the estate was legally settled.

That was one task out of a gazillion.

But I'm doing it. There are very few tasks left at this point. Just odds and ends that are caught in various bureaucratic snags. As of today, everything I can do is now done. There's more work to do, but every remaining thing is someone else's job for now. I am going to sleep tonight.

Ladies and Gents... let's talk about murry the evil skull.

Last year for my birthday, my family finally got me something off my wishlist: and I was gifted a skull mug. Now, this thing is not dishwasher or microwave safe: and my intent from the drop was to use it to hold candles.

Candles... didn't quite work. I couldn't get a standard pillar to fit, and the only other option was to shove a bunch of taper candles in there, which wound up being very, very messy and ultimately wasteful because the heat of it was just melting wax everywhere as opposed to burning for light. It did make a lot of light and heat though (so keep that in mind if your power goes out. Taper candles in a mug.) so it was pretty, even if it was not tenable.

So I took some time to try to find different sized pillars on the internet.

Then one day, when my niece was over, mom had broken out the crafting supplies and the glue gun. Murry got some googly eyes.

Recently, I had something of an epiphany: I don't need a weird or custom sized pillar candle: I just need to grab a pillar candle plate and stick it on top. So I started looking, and of course as it always is; once I start wanting something; the world has moved on and all that's left is either ugly or stupid expensive.

I went out today for a loaf of bread to go with dinner, and I stopped at the dollar store. I figured I'd check out the candle section and see: well, they had some neat holders, but no plates. So I checked out the hardware section, to see if I could get a small metal plate. Then the kitchenware for a small ceramic plate... and finally gardening...

Some terracotta pot drainers, and a tube of super glue gel later...

Anywho: I present; Murry the Evil Skull.

Pics or it didn't happen.

Don't have any, only heard about it via word of mouth this evening, besides its my next door neigbour's cat and I'm not going intruding into their personal lives and thou I known the cat being about for a while now, I only gotten to pet them once as they are rather shy around humans and its just one of five cats I know of within a short distance, but I only know two by name, 3 out of five are black, well, mostly black, one of the ones I don't know the name of, has a brown tuff upon their chest and they are offen spotted across the fronts of my home hanging around the front garden of their home

On no it's Monday again.

Oh yes I don't have a critical meeting over some estate bs in the morning. That is going to take some getting used to but I already like it.

Found a genuine Apple Macintosh keyboard at the thrift store today for two bucks, to use with my iPad. When I synced it, it identified itself as "System Administrator's Keyboard," but if I hold it to the light at just the right angle, I can see that five keys are far more weathered than the rest: W, E, A, S, and D. 😏 I guess if you're the administrator, no one can tell you off for how you spend your workday.

What made me happy today was getting my hair cut and strimming the front side of the house down so that I can avoid mowing it during no mow May, so I took advantage of the nice weather to cut back the lawns

So, this didn't make me happy, but I hope it makes some of you happy.

After I built my new computer: I noticed that ikea had a tower stand on wheels. So I bought it back then. And it's great. Solid construction, good wheels, greatly improves airflow and makes it easy to clean around it.

I happen to be back at ikea today. We were shopping for a new desk chair for my father, it's his birthday gift. So while he was testing the next in a long line of seats, I looked to my right, and saw a bin of the tower stands.

They were called updsell.

Ikea literally upsold me on a computer they had no part of.

Got my first WIP sketches of a commission I'd been concerned about, as when I sent in the form, I got the invoice, but no communication other than that so I was afraid I'd typo'd my e-mail. Or that their response had been spam-can'd. (I had a commission screwed up that way previously - waited 6 months, followed up, and found out it had been done, but somewhat wrong in a bunch of ways so I had to scramble getting them to adjust it. They'd just thought I'd been fine with it and that was why I hadn't responded. Bad experience for both of us, though I wouldn't put either of us at fault in the end.)

Probably also helps that though FurAffinity took a dive recently(issues with some hardware upgrades), I have my own domain and website so I've been linking my refs from there. Makes it easier for the artists in times like this.
